Regulations

Within the political ring, there are two distinct and sadly needed actions in the United States right now to fight the regulations of e-cigarettes.

First, the ever-imperative Cole-Bishop bill, (H.R. 1136) explained via CASAA here

Meanwhile

Duncan Hunter (R,CA)  has introduced one of his own, taking tobacco OUT of the description completely.

Small Town America

Speaking of legislation, Federal law requires “federal regulatory agencies must coordinate their policies, plans, actions, and regulations with local governments.”

That is found here from the Electronic Vaping Coalition of America (EVCA)

WHAT IS “COORDINATION” IN FEDERAL LAW?

The Village of Hartland, Wisconsin is taking testimony and questioning the F.D.A. and its regulations over e-cigarettes.

“If it’s proven agencies fail this obligation, their rules become moot — not just in a local community, but nationwide.”

Nicotine Addiction: An Open 30-Day Public Health Challenge

nicotine

Foreword:

For decades, Public Health, Tobacco Control, and Government experts have agreed in unison, that nicotine is the addictive chemical in cigarettes with comparisons and statements that nicotine is as or more addictive than heroin.

This “Public Health Challenge” is to show scientific proof that the assertions of addiction are true.

I have decided to put (our) money where your assertions are by taking you, the health, tobacco control, science and research communities, to literal task on nicotine addiction.

This is a 30-day challenge for anyone in public health to show nicotine addiction in humans, without MAOI’S, ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive or any form of tobacco, without question.

You don’t need to prove me wrong, you need to prove yourselves right.

That’s it.

Nicotine Addiction

An Open 30-Day Public Health Challenge:

Addiction to a habit-forming substance is defined by Merriam-Webster:

Medical Definition of addiction

  1. :  compulsive physiological need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal; broadly: persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be physically, psychologically, or socially harmful [emphasis added.]

Criteria:

To show proof of nicotine addiction with existing clinical trials, case studies, data, and scientific documentation of addiction to nicotine alone, without any form of tobacco or Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI’S), ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive, in humans.

Documentation submitted (either as a text file or in the form of a web link) must be accessible and not be behind a “paywall”.

Documentation:

Unacceptable documentation:

  • Animal studies (rats, mice, monkeys, etc.) are not acceptable.
  • Submissions not published in professional or scientific journals or government websites are not acceptable.
  • Anything inaccessible by the public, including “paywalls” via the internet, are not acceptable.
  • Oral presentations, press releases are not acceptable.
  • Existing clinical trials, case studies, data, in vitro studies, self-reported surveys and scientific documentation in humans that claim probabilities or hypothetical possibilities as they do not show nicotine “is” addictive and are not acceptable.
  • Existing clinical trials, case studies, data, in vitro studies, self-reported surveys, and scientific documentation cannot include words and phrases like “hand to mouth, dependent, habitual, ritualistic” or words like “can, conceivably, could, likely, may, might, perhaps, possible, possibly, possibility, probably, probability” and cannot include tobacco or MAOI’s, ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive for this challenge.

Acceptable Documentation:

  • Documentation must be accessible to the public.
  • Documentation must show the acceptable definition of addiction in existing clinical trials, case studies, data, or science and include characteristics of addiction such as increased tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms of nicotine alone, in humans, without any form of tobacco or MAOI’s, ammonia, or any other non-nicotine additive.
  • Documentation showing addiction in clinical trials or case studies with 3% or 2 subjects, whichever is greater.
  • Documentation must include a clear description of methodologies and results.
  • Peer-reviewed submissions must include names and affiliations of reviewers.

Documentation submitted (either as a text file or in the form of a web link) must be accessible and not be behind a “paywall”.

Documentation submitted must also include proof of existence with at least three of the following compulsive use or behaviors identified and defined, such as:

  • Physical addiction
  • Loss of job
  • Erratic or deviant behavior
  • Decreased social activities
  • Increased tolerance of nicotine and use over time
  • Harm to the patient or others around them
  • Withdrawal symptoms, phases

Submission:

Documentation must be submitted to this blog publicly and directly in the comment section below.

Reward:

money6

If addiction to nicotine is proven according to the criteria above, 5% of the funds donated during this 30-day challenge (minus processing fees) will be donated to The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

The remaining 95% (if proven) will be donated as follows:

In the absence of or lack of documentation submitted per the criteria stated above, or if this Public Health Challenge is deemed uncontested, any and all funds donated during this 30-day challenge (minus processing fees) will go to ecigarette-research.org for further research by Dr. Farsalinos and his colleagues.

Who doesn’t like tobacco free pie?

pie3

I love pie. Chicken pot pie. Shepard’s pie. Mom made a mean apple pie…Pumpkin, chocolate – well who doesn’t like pie? It’s a comfort food! If you ask nicely and work for it, surely someone will give you pie.

If you don’t like pie, you’re probably not a government funded or subsidized agency. You could also lie for pie, ask for pie, create a need for pie. Make up new problems so someone will give you pie.

Somewhere along the the tobacco pie line, there’s an expert brushing the crust out of his beard so he doesn’t look like he’s just there for more pie.

Here is an example of how you can have make your own pie and eat it, too:

We Used Terrible Science to Justify Smoking Bans

00

Depending where you’re from

glantz3

– this is an example of how one give the illusion

– of the display of eluding of pie.

glantzshoe

By all means, demonize the source of any newfangled and less dangerous pie and its ingredients. Talk bad about it. Pie always tastes better with a fresh cold glass of hypocrisy.

Because “experts” like Glantz can have your pie and eat it, too.

Tobacco companies just make the pie.

Busy pie makers.

Tobacco pie comes in all shapes & sizes. There’s tasty funding pie. Grant and research pie. Product placement and promotion pie. Just as popular – there’s support and seed pie. There’s even specialty slices of pie with all of the above.

There’s the ever popular rehashed pie. Heck, there’s even Ponzi pie!

I can’t possibly name all the types of pies, but wanted to give you an idea of the vast selection!

pharmachart

Tobacco companies get a bad rap. They, no matter what, have held up their end of the bargain in their participation of the pie making deal. They’re not the bad guy.

They signed and agreed to give a very large portion of their own hard earned pie to the government for a very long time, who then divvies up the pie in unequal and inequitable slices to various misappropriating and greedy hands.

You know, where “Matt Myers engaged in negotiations with Philip Morris circa 1997 to determine terms of a Master Settlement Agreement

They made a deal with hungry pie eaters – who lie to the taxpayer..

msafunding

The Master Settlement Agreement & Its Impact on Tobacco Use 10 Years Later

Who doesn’t like pie?

They like to say nicotine is addictive.

nicotine-wow

Pie is addictive. States LOVE pie. They take pie and fix roads and drip-feed into many budgets they aren’t otherwise fiscally responsible in maintaining.

Pharmaceutical companies make and promote their unsuccessful pie while grants and tax incentives keep them making their own pie. “Anti-tobacco” groups take some of pharmaceutical’s pie under the guise of only giving out that type of pie – no other pie is good enough.

Pie under pressure. Health groups and anti-tobacco cults are hungry – and also promote this with the media, manufacturing more of their own pie.

Health care – hospitals, insurance companies – they like tobacco pie because it feeds them the people eating it, and they get pharmaceutical pies to fix those who have eaten too much pie.

Media – just eats pie up.

A pie eating contest!

Suddenly, there’s a new pie in town. Not like any other pie, it left a bad taste in the government’s mouth and has become disruptive.

Faithful to tobacco for years, consumers who otherwise would rather die than quit – suddenly stopped consuming tobacco  by choice – disrupting the tobacco pie chain.

For those who had stopped looking – they found a different – and working solution. and it wasn’t thought of – or approved by the pie in the sky mutual admiration society.

Some of the pie recipients are overly excited about this new pie, shaking and baking it beyond recognition so the old pie will look better. No self-absorbed organization would be caught dead passing out poorly designed carcinogen pie. The old pie is much better for everyone involved.

“We’re on board” pie

My prediction: they’ll all come on board with the new pie, promoting and encouraging the new revenue line of pie – like the new pie is going out of style –

Eating it up – once they are SURE they can tax it like tobacco.

pigs

Finally – there’s the much less popular humble pie.

Thanks, Tim!!!

Only the bravest of those addicted to pie are able to eat humble pie.

Like Jim McManus, who changed his mind on e-cigarettes.

They are called professionals.

Like those at M.O.V.E.

I’ve written the President about the pie epidemic here.

The health implications of e-cigs according to U.S. agency experts.

criminals.jpg

Prestigious “non-profit agencies” such as the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association,  American Heart Association, Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids and all of their state and local “affiliates” are unwilling to stand up for the public, placing their fiscal priorities before public health.

Joining them are government agencies like the Centers for Disease Control & Dr. Tom Frieden (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Surgeon General Murthy, Secretary Burwell, and MANY more who will not accept or endorse vaping products as a valid tobacco harm reduction choice.

Because you trust them.

They wouldn’t lie to you, they have your best interest at the core of your health.

Kevin, you can’t be serious!?!

Yep! As serious as a smoker wanting to quit.

They won’t endorse LESS smoking?

Not at all. Unless it is with an approved method.

For NO reason? Aren’t they’re supposed to help consumers? Guide them? Give them advice? Instead, we’re on our own?

Yep. You’d think the American public would need expect no less than balanced and up to date information, evidently that is not standard operating procedure with the United States “health” organizations and their vast network of “affiliates” – or the government.

Doesn’t that seem ODD to you?

Public Health thinks this is a win

I’d like to see a judge rule quickly, that non-profit “public health” & Government agency defendants have violated civil & federal racketeering laws as a result of a decade-long conspiracy to deceive the American public about the much less harmful effects of e-cigarette use and the knowledge of e-cigarettes being at least 95% safer.

In the past decade, the lack of honest and beneficial information being withheld on e-cigs by those above have resulted in continued tobacco use and thereby benefiting those involved with their fiscal decisions to continue their own revenues including taxes, grants, funding and investments by coercing public opinion with propaganda, while acting desperately to avoid responsibility for their actions.

“When tobacco use decreases, less smoking occurs”.

This letter, “signed by 53 leading scientists has warned the World Health Organization not to classify e-cigarettes as tobacco products, arguing that doing so would jeopardize a major opportunity to slash disease and deaths caused by smoking.”

That’s from Reuters, here.

Update 1026/16:

AGAIN, responsible people in the world have now written this:

COMMENTARY ON WHO REPORT ON ELECTRONIC NICOTINE DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND ELECTRONIC NON-NICOTINE DELIVERY SYSTEMS

“The largest threat to is an informed consumer.”

Public Health

Public health refers to “the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private, communities and individuals.” according to Wikipedia

  • Science and art of preventing disease
  • Prolonging life and promoting health through organized efforts

I’ve covered public health and their challenges they face with understanding harm reduction here.

“Health” organizations in the United States have been heavily opposing vaping products and have NOT endorsed them as tobacco harm reduction products because they are not “approved” by the FDA.

According to regulations released August 8th, 2016, it is illegal for retailers to give advice to consumers. They can’t do that anymore.

You’re not going to shut consumers or organizations up.

Here’s some examples:

THESE are national consumer and industry organizations in the United States who keep US informed.

Thank you, Kat York!

Being an inquisitive soul, I decided all on my own over the past few months to ask this direct question on Twitter to MANY “experts”, including ALL of the above. To create a source of non-responses. Each account is active. Each account spouts something nearly every day. Each got the same or similar variant of the same question:

Any comment on the health implications of deceiving adult smokers with regs of #ecigs as “tobacco products”?

I want answers.

I’ve asked the Director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Tom Frieden.

I’ve asked the Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy.

I’ve ASKED the President & CEO of the American Lung Association, Harold Wimmer:

I’ve asked CEO of the American Cancer Association, Gary Reedy:

I’ve asked “Truth Initiative”:

More than once, I’ve asked the American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown:

I’ve asked the American Medical Association:

I’ve asked the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids:

I’ve asked the Food and Drug Administration:

Among others, I’ve asked Senators Blumenthal and Boxer:

I’ve asked the PRESIDENT of the United States, Barack Obama:

I’ve asked tobacco control “expert” Professor Glantz:

I’ve asked former Centers for Disease Control Director, Michael Erikson:

Among other questions, I chose to ask Secretary Burwell to the premier of A Billion Lives:

Not only did I ask Sec. Burwell, I was hedging my bets – asking tobacco control “expert”  Ruth Malone, Dr. Judy Monroe (President/CEO of CDCFound) AND Margaret Cuomo to the premier of A Billion Lives.

There was not ONE response from ANY of these “agencies”. Not one.

No ANSWERS?  They’re the authority?

WHY is this acceptable?

WHY are we putting up with this?

WHY are they getting away with it?

IF

the claims by agencies of 480,000 deaths a year from tobacco and related disease is of concern to all of those above, they would do anything in their power to CHANGE that.

They don’t have that desire.

In order to keep the lie alive, their “defense” is, and their ONLY continued efforts and “concerns” are always focused on:

Nicotine. Children. Public Health. Funding.

WHY?

Because they WANT you to smoke. They are promoting combustible tobacco.

Here’s why:

WHO declined to be interviewed for A Billion Lives?

“If you care”

These are just some of the people in the United States government protecting the sales of cigarettes:

Dr. Robert Califf, Deputy Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Medical Products and Tobacco since January 2015. He was appointed after his predecessor, Margaret Hamburg “left” the position, who is facing R.I.C.O. statutes.

Dr. Tom Frieden has been since 2009 the Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Acting Administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

Mitch Zeller, Mitch postures and “leads FDA’s efforts to reduce the disease and death from tobacco use and bring previously unavailable information about its dangers to light”.

Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the 22nd Secretary of Health & Human Services.

Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA, laughingly serves as America’s doctor, “providing info to improve public health

A Billion Lives: Exposing the lies on e-cigarettes.

A-Billion-Lives-I-Stand-With-A-Billion-Lives.jpg

The filmA Billion Lives is giving the world an astonishing perspective about the ferocious fight over e-cigarettes between governments, health professionals and organizations around the world… and why.

“A billion people projected to die…you’ll be surprised who’s keeping it that way.”

The world deserves answers.

While organizations and their representatives posture themselves by claiming the reduction or “elimination” of tobacco is a goal, the actions and motives speak volumes by deterring smokers from switching to a much less harmful alternative.

Their actions, and inaction has loudly and publicly objected to vaping products, while quietly trying to keep tobacco burning and revenue as their priority over public health.

“Nobody wants to talk about it…money has something to do with everything.”               ~David Goerlitz

Below is a staggering list of the “who’s who” of public health organizations and personalities who declined interviews for this film.

Big brother has lied again…They’re trying to force an entire industry out of business that is helping people to stop smoking.    ~ Herman Cain

abillionlivesdeclinedlistonly

What are they trying to hide?

Instead of accepting the technology with vaping products as another tool to reach the well claimed goal of an “end-game” of what they describe as a tobacco epidemic, they, with derelict of duty, “public healthprefer to fight against e-cigarettes – instead of supporting what may be the answer to dramatically reducing or elimination of combustible tobacco.

EACH one above did NOTHING to stand up, to educate themselves, and instead created a media storm to denounce these products and supported regulations of (nicotine) vaping products as “tobacco” instead. I encourage you to call them and ask them WHY.

“Health organizations like those mentioned above are funded by sickness and disease. They surely won’t support a device that reduces disease. That’s an automatic pay cut.”                                                   ~Robert McNew

and more.

“I was so angry when this movie ended, I felt like I could chew glass.”      ~Ryan Jay

A Billion Lives is making a direct global impact on society as it tells the story about corruption, politics of tobacco control, anti-smoking groups, public health, tobacco companies, pharmaceuticals and governments worldwide over the money and control they’ve lost and want to regain.

The depiction in this film of the criminal intent to stop the disruption of cash flow to businesses, tax revenue and funding of “special interest groups” is sharp, honest and insightful.

Smoking…. it’s good business. So they lie.    ~Aaron Biebert

Directed by Aaron Biebert and released by Attention Era Media, the film has premiered on four continents and already earned five prestigious awards including:

  • 2016 Supreme Jury Prize (Best Picture) at Melbourne Documentary Film Festival
  • 2016 Best International Documentary at Jozi Film Festival (South Africa)
  • 2016 Best Director at Melbourne Documentary Film Festival
  • 2016 Remi Award
  • 2016 Best International Feature – Finalist at DocEdge (New Zealand)

“An extraordinary untold story.”    ~ Oliver Kershaw
