Tobacco Control: Fueding, fussing, fighting, fear & funding

tobacco money

Control of tobacco, or tobacco control, loves control. Color me silly, but the stronger the opposition, the more I see the antagonistic approach against it, the more I like the PMI foundation. A little while back, Philip Morris announced they would pledge a billion dollars towards a “smoke-free worldfor research.

Fueding

Dr. Michael Siegel, a former student of Professor Glantz has refused a position at the newly formed Foundation for a Smoke-Free World. (Covered here)

Fussing

If you missed it, There was plenty of “outrage” including a “Frank Statement” accompanied by babbling a scream test from the “tobacco control sector” about the announcement here.

Fighting

On December 5th, Dr. Michael Siegel explained, “We already know what interventions are most effective in reducing smoking rates” and “Frankly, this is all essentially a waste of time.here.

He has five “key points” as to what the foundation, funded by a tobacco company, should do.

These are his suggestions:

  1. severely restrict or curtail cigarette advertising and marketing;
  2. require plain packaging;
  3. substantially increase cigarette taxes;
  4. promote 100% smoke-free environments; and
  5. heavily fund aggressive, state-of-the-art anti-smoking media campaigns.

For time and space

I didn’t see research in those five points. I don’t think it was implied. Instead, I see the same tobacco control playbook. Maybe it’s just me.

I’ll toss a “rebuttal” taking care of time & space.

Question: How do claims “making progress” work?

“In contrast, the Foundation does want to support research on the role of genetics, physiology, individual choices and activities and environmental influences.”

According to my assessment of past “job performance”, tobacco control “experts” & all political front groups are trying to help by instilling fear.

(Now they are appauding, and want more smoking.)

They should all be defunded, dismantled and sued under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

Dr. Siegel, have you lost your marbles?

Although I think he’s lost his marbles in his assesment of the goals of the Smoke-Free World, please, don’t be under the impression that I don’t like or respect Dr. Siegel. In fact, I’ve linked him on occasion, and I do respect him.

Fear

And especially here, where I wonder if it was the reason he declined the position:

“You aren’t allowed to do that in tobacco control. If you dissent, you are allowed to write polite, personal, and private emails expressing your opinion, but you are not allowed to go public with your dissenting comments. You have to shut up and keep your opinion to yourself.”

Prominent Tobacco Control Researcher Cautions CDC that Helena Study Should Not Be Used to Conclude that Smoking Bans Immediately Reduce Heart Attacks

Defense vs Offense

Don’t get your panties in a bunch; I am partial to vaping. It’s what worked for ME. I am also for any method a consumer can CHOOSE, including the patch, gum, hypnosis, meditation, whatever works for someone choosing to switch from smoking that works for them. I’m not for strong-arming or manipulation of “control”.

In my opinion, the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World will do research with technology, hopefully e-cigarettes, heat not burn, other smokeless tobacco and other things. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll also figure out why those patches & gums have a measly 7 percent success rate and improve those as well. Boy, won’t pharma be pissed.

The “control” sector won’t have eyes on research first. They won’t have immediate opportunity to “enhance” or “downplay” the results. They will have to actually defend their positions. Maybe even work at their job. Imagine the horror.

Loss of control.

I covered some of these issues here at The Daily Vaper:

“Tobacco control organizations have never voiced any reservations about accepting funding from tobacco taxation to keep their fiscal health afloat with funds derived from the crop.”

Tobacco Control ‘Experts’ Fight AGAINST A Smoke-Free World

Foxes guarding the henhouse

To be credible, I suppose……if we could trust control experts to act like – well, I propose, experts, we’d be a lot further along, but we’re talking about a tobacco company trying to reduce smoking… twenty years ago, this very scenario would have been simple to manipulate. Today, not so much.

Simon Chapman thinks Dr. Siegel’s points are analysis….

Funding

If we could just separate that pesky conflict of interest of  “research” and “control” from the funding… ahh who am I kidding. Tobacco companies want money. Tobacco control and anti-tobacco wants money.

Speaking of credibility…

The Truth Is Out There

If “tobacco control” were credible, they would all be feverishly trying to put themselves out of a job, and you wouldn’t be reading this blog, now would you?

This is Why Tobacco Control Should not be Trusted

The current decline in smoking has been well-documented and has occurred because of a consumer based technology coming into the marketplace, not by the efforts of Tobacco Control (TC) groups. TC is primarily funded by Tobacco Taxes. It is a textbook conflict of interest because if they succeed at what they are trying to do, they will de-fund themselves. Let me make this a bit clearer for those of you reading this; Tobacco Control does NOT have the goal of eliminating smoking, period! TC is about control and power. Here are some of their proposed ‘fixes’ and what they claim their goal is along with what their true objectives are:

Tobacco 21- TC claims that raising the age to purchase tobacco products will reduce the numbers of new smokers by 25%. In actuality, it has done little to help reduce smoking or curb youth access since it does not make it illegal to possess tobacco products if you are under 21 and it has been largely rejected by a majority of cities and towns already. Raising the age to buy without the means to enforce it is a feigned attempt to appear to be doing a public service. The intended goal of this program is to inflate the numbers of ‘youth smokers’ by including the now ‘underage’ 18-20 year olds in their reports and surveys. They will further secure their funding by showing a jump in tobacco use overnight. Clever but not completely honest to say the least.

Flavor Bans- TC will claim that “Flavors are marketed to Children” and should be banned from all tobacco products. Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) has played a major role in helping people to stop smoking. It is estimated that nearly 13 million Adults in the USA have used smokeless tobacco (Vaping and Snus) with significantly higher success rates (67%) of never returning to combustible tobacco products again, using flavored products. Why would TC want to remove products that are magnitudes safer than smoking? Why would TC want to restrict access to something that millions of adults have found success quitting smoking with? If someone is trying to quit smoking, should they HAVE to use tobacco flavors to do so? The answer, they are well aware that doing so will cause many to return to smoking, completing the cycle of taxation and funding for their continued existence. It is not about public health, it is about their funding.

High Taxation- Tobacco has always been the target for taxes and revenue generators for states. The sin and guilt applied to smokers has been a psychological war going on for decades. ‘You smoke and should be ashamed of it, pay your taxes’. However, TC has completely ignored any and all THR products citing that ‘They are not FDA approved’ as their reasoning. Again, I ask you, Why not include THR products with a very high success rate and far less harm? It is an obvious ruse and it comes back to their funding. Call it ‘Tobacco’, tax it, and keep the funding coming in, rinse and repeat. Are you seeing the trend here? I hope so. On to the next…

Tobacco Control uses slight of words- If you listen to these TC groups speak, they will interchange the words ‘tobacco’ and ‘nicotine’ as if they are one and the same, they are not. Using this play on words they will say things like “Smoking kills 480k+ Americans each year. ____________ (add in any of their proposals above here) will save people from their deadly addictions to nicotine and create a healthier state/city in ____________ (enter city or state here).” They want to create the narrative so that people associate tobacco and nicotine as one and the same by continually using them together. Keep in mind that there are no studies that can prove nicotine is deadly or that it is ‘highly addictive’ as they claim. Not ONE study! Prove me wrong, I’ll wait. They do this so that they can include anything with nicotine in it to be taxed just like tobacco…to protect their funding.

Finally, I would like to point out that these TC groups are NOT required to communicate truthfully OR factually to the public. They are not bound by any state or federal laws to tell the truth. Having given you my professional opinion, I stand by the title of this letter in saying “This is WHY Tobacco Control should not be trusted”.

Tobacco Control ‘Experts’ Fight AGAINST A Smoke-Free World

Please indulge me in a bit of shameless self-promotion. I’d like to take a moment to proudly introduce my first submission to the Daily Caller & Daily Vaper. I was humbled, surprised and honored when I was contacted to submit to them.

I was also relieved. Why? The consideration was immediate. With 20 million possible eyes, and no pop ups, I’m in.

Instead of preaching to the choir, I hope their estimated audience of 20 million people might see what this blog has been trying to say for (4+ years) so long.

This is what causes tobacco control to pull their hair out. I’m enjoying the show.

Regulator Watch

ANY attention to any attempt to STOP the Food and Drug Administration to cease and desist is attention. Some disagree, some are supportive.

One may agree or disagree in the tactics deployed by any industry or consumer group, but to have egos in the way of progress towards what should be little to no regulation of vaping products, (industry manufacturing standards, no sales tax other than normal sales tax), one with half a brain would give deeper consideration to any efforts being put forth rather than dismissing them.

My deepest thanks to Brent Stafford from Regulator Watch for continuing to educate me as a consumer in what seems like an endless regulatory carnival ride.

For immediate release: Dear Matt Myers, President of Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids

tobaccofreebullies

Ohio, 25th September 2016

Dear Matt Myers, President of Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids:

As I am sure you are aware, public health and tobacco control organizations must posture themselves with efforts to play a fictitious lead role in tackling the tobacco pandemic, which causes the death of 480,000 US citizens every year. This is without factoring all the suffering, disability and personal tragedy linked to tobacco use along with millions of dollars in funding, none of which can ever be quantified.

I, as a citizen of the United States, would like to express my strong concern for your valiant efforts to keep Americans smoking, and your lack of participation or interest for invaluable e-cigarette research that has taken place in England and many other countries.

I also could not help but notice you are heavily and blatantly sponsored directly by or in partnerships with medical associations, pharmaceuticals and medical industry along with front groups such as your founder, the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, and of course the American Heart, Lung and Cancer Associations.

All of these groups, as you are also aware, irresponsibly supported regulation of vaping products as tobacco. Amazingly, not one national health or tobacco control organization has had the integrity to stand up for public health.

As you might not have noted,  a highly responsible and growing group of professionals from the medical profession and tobacco control, who are not afraid to speak to each other, or speak for the welfare of smokers, are with a group called M.O.V.E. (1).

On its own, Public Health England (2), and the highly respected Royal College of Physicians (3), have been supporting vaping products for tobacco harm reduction for quite some time, stating at least 95% less harm, staking their professional reputations and titles on these facts.

  1. M.O.V.E.
  2. A_report_commissioned_by_Public_Health_England.
  3. Expert independent review concludes that e-cigarettes have potential to help smokers quit.

As you are involved with an organization having unstable credibility at best, you should be placing smokers’ health and well-being as the highest priority. Your lobbying and backroom deals for tobacco companies best interests involving the Master Settlement Agreement and the Family Smoking and Tobacco Control Act shows a conflict of interest dripping with corrupt activities.

The involvement directly related to the pharmaceutical industry has been misleading and deceiving the general public for many decades and “could be” not only detrimental to your reputation but also the notoriety of your affiliated associations and institutions.

When informed about the staggering evidence of tobacco harm reduction (4), and ease in which smokers are switching to a much less harmful alternative (5), to combustible tobacco, some organizations like yourself have immediately ignored any and all correspondence towards one answer, less harm.

Now that these connections are clearly established and brought to your attention, I call on you to to disengage from denying information to smokers in the United States, deceiving them with misinformation (6), propaganda like “Think of the children“, and being the self-serving catalyst responsible for the 480,000 deaths per year from smoking from this moment on.

4. Top tobacco control experts to FDA: Studies of e-cigs suggest more benefit than harm

5. We Don’t Need ‘Decades of Research’ to Know Vaping Is Safer Than Smoking

6. Withholding differential risk information on legal consumer nicotine/tobacco products: The public health ethics of health information quarantines

You, Matt Myers, are at the forefront and part of the cause of the tobacco epidemic that is crippling our communities and targeting the most vulnerable smokers from switching. You need to embrace your professional and well paid position of alleged authority and vow to no longer be involved with an industry which has fundamentally irreconcilable interests from public health and welfare.

I know I will slow this pandemic of tobacco to a crawl without your ulterior motives, effectively allowing adult smokers to make the choice to switch to a less harmful alternative with proper and educated information.

I hope that your participation in the highly profitable pharmaceutical and tobacco control “end-game” has just been an oversight, a simple misunderstanding all these years. I’ll expect you to rectify and remedy this immediately.

If not, it is imperative for you to cease and desist any and all tobacco control activities until you get your head out of your ass.

Without respect or regret,
Kevin Crowley

Reducing smoking, a challenging campaign for Tobacco Free Kids

tobaccofreebullies.JPG

The Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids (CFTK) has shown a rare glimpse into the desperate reach it wants to have with one of the finest examples of illiteracy in tobacco harm reduction.

CTFK and the European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP) have joined together asserting themselves with this letter to Dr Christopher Russell presumably not meant for public consumption.

There was no concern for harm reduction in any form in the letter and was not an attainable goal or option. No mention of “how do we come and learn as well” or “sounds like there may be some valuable information extracted from this conference.” With typical Matt Myers “tobacco control” style, only intimidation, control, and manipulation were a concern.

Disapproval is of the highest order from these organizations to Dr. Russell for planning to attend the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF).

Concern for Dr. Russell and his impeccable professional credibility seemed to be the focus in their letter. In my mind, they’ve been the recipient of this paragraph at some point.

It needs to be read back to THEM in court:

tfk

I didn’t know who “ENSP” even was until a day or so ago. I do, however, know who the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids “is”.

tfkorigin.jpg

paycut

I won’t bore you with all the details of my “meta-analysis” of this corrupt and unacceptable letter, I’ll leave that to these four five six & seven:

Clive Bates

To listen to someone, you don’t need to uncritically accept everything they say, but I have definitely gained insight from listening to them. I am also open to and welcome challenge and I’m prepared to have my owned received wisdom shaken up. I will accept good arguments if I hear them, whoever makes them.

The wilful ignorance of tobacco control McCarthyites

Vaping 360; Jim McDonald:

Of course, it’s okay for CTFK’s Matt Myers to talk with Big Tobacco companies. He secretly negotiated the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act with attorneys from Philip Morris (now Altria). For all his tobacco-free huffing and puffing, Myers’ backroom negotiations managed to result in a law that guaranteed the tobacco industry’s long-term health and profitability. One senator called Matt Myers’ handiwork the “Marlboro Protection Act.”

Scientist’s career threatened by anti-tobacco organization

Carl V. Phillips

If you want to get mad about something, definitely do so. But make sure it is the right thing: the 99% of available research funds that have a political litmus test attached; the use of those and other funds to blackmail institutions into censoring other researchers

CTFK threatens researchers but who cares

Dr. Sally Satel:

Shameless Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids Tries to Censor Researchers

By Dr Farsalinos:

Public health has been divided into two opposing groups (pro and against harm reduction) which never meet or participate in the same conference to exchange ideas and present their arguments collectively in an honest, open and public debate. Is this what public health and smokers deserve? Is this going to solve the problem of smoking? Is this scientific progress?

Public health urgently needs a “new deal”

Added 9/27/16

AND now from Neil McKeganey Ph.D. Christopher Russell Ph.D. themselves:

Why Academics Should Resist Pressure to Disengage with the Tobacco Industry

Thank you to Dr. Christopher Russell for the work you DO, and for allowing the world to see ineptitude from what is supposed to be authority by both ENSP and CTFK.

Here are results of just one of Dr. Russell’s surveys. NOTE it says Tobacco Harm Reduction.

E-cigarette Evidence. Guilty As Charged, The Scream Test.

evidence31

Like a crime scene, “experts” are trying to cover up scientific evidence about e-cigarettes. Cleverly disguised with their self-important pseudo-opinions, they publish their assessment long before it has been properly reviewed.

Like seasoned criminals, experts are studious at covering up or altering these scientific studies and research to their benefit, not yours. There will be no evidence reviewed unless they say it’s “ok”.

They weren’t invited, in any shape or form, to the scientific portion of the study, most likely because they aren’t qualified to perform it.

That makes them feel inadequate and they must redeem themselves. They feel left out.

Poor things. Bless their hearts.

evidence6

It’s quite like public health’s own scream test here, and here.

They also really do not like anecdotal evidence. They do not approve. I repeat: They do not approve.

Your anecdotal experience is NOT important to them.

They don’t believe in it, they dissociate themselves from it.

There are experts everywhere, just ask them. It’s popular to be one!

How WHO are you to decide for yourself that e-cigarettes are an alternative to smoking? What is WRONG with you? Are you thinking for yourself?

Experts say e-cigarettes are NOT approved methods to STOP SMOKING.

Did you TRY the not so effective approved methods? Did you give your best effort? Have you tried the patch? A quit-line? Counseling. Talking to someone may help. Keep those hands busy.

KEEP TRYING.

advice 3.jpgSource of photo here.

Nothing like tobacco control style guilt to persuade you is there?

I consider vapers the experts. Some idiots in the tobacco control industry have decided they are experts. Politicians??? They’re experts? T.V. Doctors!

Well – you would think they were, but they aren’t either.

In their quest for knowledge, you would only believe they would consume themselves by looking without delay, at science and evidence.

You would only think with the best interest of the PUBLIC at hand, experts would consult (and collaborate) with these people as quickly as they could.

I’d almost say, without hesitation, experts would seek the advice of people before them, that they would heed the experience of Medical Professionals who had the same doubts and thoughts.

You’d also think they would LISTEN to US.

Nahhhh….

evidence3

To have respect as a medical, health, or “tobacco control” professional, you should act like one.

You cannot deny the evidence. You cannot ignore the evidence. You cannot make it fit in YOUR box. You cannot pretend it doesn’t exist.

evidence5

You must either accept it as it is, or as an EXPERT, show why it isn’t working  – proof. I am waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop.

Most experts just want to stomp their feet like children, hoping they get their way, hoping every colleague will agree with their opinion. Get over yourselves.

evidence2

You’re at the bottom of the list.

While I’m at it – here’s a novel thought:

MAKE IT BETTER! Quit bitching and making things up. Instead of antagonizing, FIX IT. What? You don’t want to?

Nope. That’s not what they do. They see a report. Study. Science.

They rub their grubby hands together, and cluck like chickens.

They drop their carcinogen laced coffee as fast as it hits the floor, fling off their lab coats, and prefer to cherry pick. Please, no wagering.

cherrypickers.JPG

They have a hypothesis. Opinion. They find key points in one thing and write all about THAT. They then turn that into childish propaganda. They MUST tell the WORLD using any means necessary!

Obviously the goal of this is not to help the world, but to keep their self-serving importance up in their “field” – to boost their popularity -so they don’t become irrelevant !  All much more important than helping the public, or so it seems.

Maybe they are SO insecure, afraid of becoming irrelevant, they fling pooh, eat their bananas, and will do what they can to keep smoking around….. nahhh – can’t be.

MONKEYS2

Maybe they’re tired of seeing e-cig users doing their job?

That must be it.

evidence4

They already ignore the science.

They are having a much harder time ignoring US.

One recent example of listening, changing his mind, and being responsible in this matter is explained very well here, from Jim McManus.

When WE as users of this product reduced our tobacco use, regardless of the reason why, and are doing it by the MILLIONS, we must be on to something. You would think, if they REALLY want people off tobacco, they’d listen to the experts. Us.

It’s not like we’re walking around – pretending. Struggling. If it didn’t work, you bet your ass we’d be saying that as well. It doesn’t work for some.

By default, and by design, I’d bet ecigs would be a SOLID 85%+ success rate if “experts” would either SHUT up or admit they work and help those struggling to that end. They don’t want that.

We’ve stopped smoking by choice.

Most will more than likely choose not to listen, I hope you will.

Here are examples of UNEDITED “anecdotal” evidence from the latest survey.

I had chronic bronchitis for over 16 years and it is gone now. I was afraid to laugh as it would send me into fits of hacking coughing. I laugh a lot now. I run with my grandchildren instead of being afraid to play for the coughing.
Saturday, Aug 1st 5:59PM

was able to discontinue two prescription drugs, cholesterol levels dropped by 50 points, used to need antibiotics for respiratory/sinus infections at least 4 times a year, since vaping I’ve been sick once.
Saturday, Aug 1st 5:18PM

I couldn’t walk up the four flights of stairs at home without breaking a sweat before i quit cigarettes and after two months after changing to a vape-mod i ran up the stairs without breaking a sweat. Now after two years I just ran half a marathon in just over two hours!

Breathing improved, high cholesterol went away, started exercising, lost over 70#, thirsty so I drink water constantly, lost weight lowered blood pressure, better performance sexually, enjoy healthy foods, use less salt, list is endless.

Here’s a hundred more similar to the above testimonials – from the first survey: Who’s hiding the truth?

More anecdotal evidence from the first survey: I can breathe again.

Are you wondering why there is so much

controversy over e-cigarettes?

Watch this:

Some controversy in itself, created some controversy of its own from this clip.

Simon Clark:  A Billion Comments

Dick Puddlecoat: A Billion Lives – My Take

Facts Do Matter: A Billion Lives Guest Post

My own comments:

I thought the comment the director made in question in a 7-8 second glimpse was actually a part of the bigger picture, pointing out the irony of lies. (*Just what you said, Paul, context). I thought it was taken out of a larger scene… no more no less. I didn’t give it a second thought until…. then somewhere I tweeted them to put pooh smells in the theaters when they’re lying scenes – and roses when they’re not… just as a joke.

The 3+ minute glimpse into this film is absolutely astounding. I agree with Mark below, there WILL be resistance on this film. There will also be opportunity. Pointing out the statement was far from my mind until someone pointed it out. In my eyes, the very thought of ripping this film up for one statement?

Maybe I should have a “shirt burning” once it comes in to gain attention? I think NOT.

I hope it was politely asked if it can be fixed/edited – or did we all just start yelling? I’ll use the word of my U.K. twitter & facebook friends… utter bullocks. I continue to stand with this film and this team. I will wear my shirt with pride. I am also one of #ABillionLives.

This project as a whole is something to look very forward to. I appreciate someone having the balls to do this. It will open some eyes.

Shannon, you said it best. We owe them everything.

Toxic Media. E-Cigarettes And Journalism.

nnnnn

Journalists. They spit out low quality fairy tales as fast as an e-cigarette study hits their untrained eye. Such articles give one an eye-opening glimpse into the many “amateur hour” hacks pretending to be “writers” there really are.

What a BUNCH of kumquats. I would be embarrassed to attach my name on  such a lack of “efforts” in “journalism” I’ve seen. I can only refer to the skill in which these articles were written as piss-poor. Most of these reek of the kind of stench you find in a port-a-john in a late summer fair full of experts.

With all the articles I see on e-cigarettes in a given week from the “press” and “reliable sources”, MOST are written as if they were made up by the half-assed skill of an 11 year old child. Still, after all this time e-cigarettes have been on the market, most journalists show very little fact checking skills and write about them with little to no knowledge of e-cigarettes.

The problem is, those who don’t know better…

may believe them.

These are irresponsible and unacceptable misinformation machines.

piss.jpg

Media today can barely put a comprehensive report out on e-cigarettes without sensationalism. They boldly publish and promote false statements and outright lies without apologies, without evidence, without integrity. There is evidently no pride lost in slinging their feces…

They squealed about “formaldehyde”, which was false, but very few put forth any effort to type about Public Health England?

news2

I am an amateur blogger. I’m not a professional writer, yet I put most of you to shame (both sides of this blog and previous posts for PLENTY of content) with proper information for a smoker contemplating e-cigarettes and what they need to know.

Sadly, I write better than most of you, and I’m not a writer by profession. Most of you proudly show lack of intelligence with each new “story”. See – that’s the thing, most of you are just telling stories. You’re specializing in e-cigarettes. E-cigarette fiction writers. Almost ass-hat like.

Am I being condescending? Yes, yes I am. Patronizing? Fine, if that’s how you feel. Some of you refer to e-cigarettes as smoking, so….we’re not on the same page. Work on that.

lies

Some reporters are obviously too stupid or unable to put two sentences together coherently, they string a reader along by almost always starting off by describing an e-cigarette. Most of it is “expert copy & paste skills” from what I see. Regurgitating the same thing over and over and over again…. each article seems to have a theme.

nnn

Requirements, evidently, for being a piss-poor journalist:

Mention gateways and children, but rarely mention “the children“.

Mention flavors, but rarely mention that “adults like flavors”.

Mention nicotine is addictive but never mention “nicotine“.

Mention approved methods, but don’t show “those methods aren’t as successful“.

Mention chemicals, but rarely mention “Chemicals“.

Mention health benefits, but never mention “health benefits

Mention we don’t know enough, but never mention that “Research is available here and here.”.

Mention laws, taxes & bans using the above descriptions but NEVER mention the truth on “Regulations, Restrictions, Taxes, Bans“.

Mention experts are on the fence about e-cigarettes, but have never talked to people on or  along “experts on this side of that fence“.

They almost NEVER mention reaching out to talk to ANY organization.

journalism

Research, in journalism  – or at least this type of journalism isn’t acceptable to the public.

They rarely retract a story, when they do it’s barely mentioned in unrelated news or withOUT fanfare like the original story was bled to death.

Almost incessantly they will either allow comments until they don’t like them, will not allow certain comments, will delete them all or not allow them to begin with.

They LOVE exploding batteries. Here’s Christopher Russell on that:

These wannabe’s take objectivity out, add in a five-gallon bucket of drivel, DON’T check facts, add in their own stupidity and use scary words like toxins – and makes a half-assed story go full ass.

dailypropaganda

According to Wikipedia-(a source evidently not concerned with standards in facts):

Journalism has developed a variety of ethics and standards. While objectivity and a lack of bias are of primary concern and importance, more liberal types of journalism, such as advocacy journalism and activism, intentionally adopt a non-objective viewpoint. This has become more prevalent with the advent of social media and blogs, as well as other platforms that are used to manipulate or sway social and political opinions and policies. These platforms often project extreme bias, as “sources” are not always held accountable or considered necessary in order to produce a written, televised or otherwise “published” end product.

Please, keep in mind  -whether you are the largest major news corporation, or the smallest, I AM talking to YOU.

Do as you wish, “journalists”. Follow the pack, parasites. Keep going with  your “hard-hitting” fluff that your friends admire. You must be proud of that degree in typing.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

~Joseph Goebbels

There’s something controversial coming soon. It’s going to sting. This information you’re going to see in this trailer isn’t a secret. It may show that you are truly inept at research, that you are unwilling or unable to use your alleged education in journalism, or you’re just plain stupid. This could have been your story.

You, and all who have “Plausible Deniability” or who are “experts in tobacco control” might want to be attentive to this video from A Billion Lives.

It is a documentary about lies. Media, Government, Pharmaceuticals, Health and more. You know… all of you who should be paying attention instead of lying your full asses off…. or you may get dishonorable mention in this.

It’s a mix in the UK these days
Wednesday, Sep 9th 12:29AM

Media used to relay the facts, today they only care about what sells. They have clearly taken a side before any interviews have started, some have affiliations with other companies or political views and stick to that no matter what truth is presented to them.

The honest truth should be shown on ALL media outlets, they should not be allowed to have a bias in any direction, the facts are what are important.

I tend to look for articles on ecigs and see many that talk about benefits and share them with others, but my sources are usually ecig positive, and I ignore the negative media reports from outside my sphere.
Saturday, Aug 8th 3:07PM

It seems hard to find legit studies and information that prove or disprove anything. More independent studies from sources that are not affiliated with smoking or vaping would be nice to see.

The reports filled with blatant lies against vapor products were making me angry, so I stopped reading/watching them.

i find the media headlines negative aspects of vaping and e cigarettes way over the top. E cigarette and battery fires, exploding batteries etc are usually due to lack of knowledge and misuse.  Any battery powered device can a do explode, set on fire etc, but the media don’t report these instances the same way they do with e cigarettes.

The media is attracted to negative stories.

From memory, there are 10 million smokers in the UK and 2.6M vapers. Of the vapers about 1M don’t dual use. I’m sure there’s plenty that don’t do either now. There needs to be a Panorama-type program to tell the good news truth about vaping and the money and power behind FDA and EU bans.

In the UK, I’ve seen both positive and negative coverage. But in the US it’s much worse, probably because of those vested interests. I do object to pharma companies putting signs in GPs offices saying ‘Don’t vape, stop smoking for good’ as it’s likely to put people off vaping. Vaping can save lives so why tell people not to do it? Insane.
Monday, Jul 13th 11:54AM

Heard some ridiculous stories. Battery safety is down to users, same as of you use a mobile phone, I have yet to meet anyone who has had anything more than a slight reaction to the pg. They simply used a Lewis worth more vg.

Monday, Jul 13th 3:30AM

Much of the media coverage (print and broadcast) reminds me of reports from the 80s and 90s suggesting that violent video games, television and rock music were responsible for teenagers committing serious crimes. Responsibility is being thrust on industry, rather than on parents, which is borderline atrocious

Sunday, Jul 12th 5:12PM

Very seldom do I see fair balanced reporting on the subject and when I see articles they are usually biased and slanted against Vaping and are chock full of misinformation and propaganda. The only fair and balanced information I have seen have been from the vaping industry itself.

Sunday, Jul 12th 2:33PM

This is true of a lot of the reports on the news, but I have seen lots of good studies done by professionals based on REAL SCIENCE and accurate reporting standards. I would never say vaping is 100% safe, but some of the reports on the news are just irresponsible and dissuade people from switching from stinkies, when they aren’t even true.

Sunday, Jul 12th 2:15PM

The real issue is the indoctrination the media has both received and repeated for the last 50 years from anti-smoking lobbies. It is because of this that all consumer nicotine products are demonized, regardless of potential benefit.

Saturday, Jul 11th 6:43PM

There have been both sides of reports on vaping, depends on who is making the statement in the perticular article, I’m sure there will be debates for quite some time, I could care less, I smoked about 40 years , now I vape, I think it was a smart choice for me, I’m not concerned about health issues cause it can’t be worse than smoking, either way I’m apparently not going to live for ever , I’m pretty smart, smart enough to try vaping and get off cigarettes.

Saturday, Jul 11th 2:57AM

The impact of what is reported is much more detrimental to those who don’t know any better or TRUST the media.

That’s why I’m here.

If I had relied on media reports for information I would have been too concerned with the long term safety of e-cigarette use to try them and I would still be smoking today.

Dear Julie: “The Last Word: Julie Lautsch”

ethics2

Dear Julie Lautsch,

Like many – and I mean many others in your field, you are claiming you are an “expert”. The controversies you so crave to unravel have been covered many times before. You’ve got a little drivel dripping off your chin in that photo. Lies. Innuendo. Imagine how you’ve created your very own version of the same exact things spouted over and again in the past few years. Imagine my surprise how well it’s worded “differently” – almost believeable! Almost plagiarism! You MUST be proud!

Copy, paste, reword, SEND! Good for you.

Lets wipe some of that drivel off your chin, shall we? (It’s not ladylike.)

The Last Word: Julie Lautsch

On the rise of e-cigarettes

I’ve been working in tobacco control for about five years. E-cigarettes have been a game changer. It’s scary watching children pick up these devices that contain harmful chemicals that they believe are totally harmless. People are not even sure how to approach a person who is using them. It’s hard to have that conversation without users saying they’re not harmful. Unfortunately, the education just isn’t there yet.

It’s scary watching children pick up these devices that contain harmful chemicals?”

You watched children pick up these devices? Allowed them to do so? How inappropriate of you – Since you’re an “anti-tobacco warrior” you think you’d stop them in the act.

Not harmful. Those are your words. That’s ambiguous, but much safer to an adult user than a cigarette. It’s far less harmful, oh great tobacco warrior. I’d say 95% safer, according to actual experts who’ve done research. You know, science.

(Psst, the education you so desire and can’t seem to find under your arrogance is here. No paywalls. No kidding.)

You’re right! E-cigarettes are a game-changer. Disruptive, aren’t they? They’re changing the world for the better. Let’s move on.

On claims that vaping can help cigarette smokers quit

The science is still out. I believe that we have some proven methods for quitting, and that breaking the chain of addiction isn’t as simple as nicotine replacement therapy. There are other pieces of addiction—the social aspect, psychological triggers, stress—that have to be addressed. With vaping you’re not breaking those parts of addiction. You’re still putting harmful chemicals in your body and we have no idea what the long-term effects are.

Science is still out? Stopping smoking is now a science? Just showed you science – here it is again.

Nice try. The proven methods, “science” as you elude to on traditional quitting, “approved” methods are working so well.

Don’t help smokers quit? Huh, all these people must be lying in the U.K. ASH (Action on Smoking & Health – mentioned the words for you – just in case)

Use of electronic cigarettes (vapourisers) among adults in Great Britain

So all these people (42% quit in one day. ONE DAY and they were NOT SMOKING tobacco) taking this survey lied as well?

5

With vaping you’re replacing smoking. Really. You’re a tobacco warrior, put on your war face. Tobacco Harm Reduction. Don’t they teach that in your part of the tower?

Ohhh chemicals. Right. You’re good!

comparison

Long term? I’m not smoking so I hope to outlive the lies.

deaths

On that “addiction” word you all love to repeat, your favorite word after “children”.

nicotineaddiction

(Thank you AgentAnia)

Here’s an ANTI-TOBACCO’s approach, (Tobacco Harm Reduction.org), oh great warrior, on Nicotine Addiction.

On being David to Big Tobacco’s Goliath

I’ve always loved the underdog in a fight, so in that way I sort of love it. But it does feel intimidating to go up against the 1,000-pound gorilla in the room. What is most challenging is that we are held to these incredible standards of substantiation. We spend so much time poring over research in order to communicate the facts. Meanwhile the other side can say what they want and not have to adhere to those same standards.

You are the 1,000-pound gorilla. You are telling people cigarettes are just the same as e-cigarettes. You are held to incredible standards? Huh. My life is an incredible standard. I’ll get back to that in a minute.

Here’s some standards I’ve seen from “warriors”. I consider them “substandard” at best, but again, we’re talking opinions, right?

dangerous

piercecounty

position

On my standards I just have this. After over 30 years of smoking, trying all those “methods” – I stopped smoking in under 48 hours. That’s not opinion, Julie. That’s fact. There are MILLIONS of facts walking ’round the world, without lighting up a cigarette anymore. Imagine that?

Now – with over two years of using an e-cigarette,  my wife quit when I did – using one as well. That’s two years without combustible tobacco. Times two. Non-smokers. No tobacco. Imagine that.

dadandi

Feeling better was within a week – cough was GONE. Stunning. I was SO motivated to find truth, I did this survey of the real experts, with over 7,000 vapers themselves, from 72 countries.

The Vaping Truth Survey Final Analysis.

Imagine my surprise in this ongoing survey – take it if you like  – it seems about 84% disagree with you. Not just us common folks – these are real Medical & Health Care Professionals. What was your degree in again?

 84percent

Medical experts say many things so far in this still ongoing survey.

On facing threats from vaping activists

There has been a lot of vitriol expressed by pro-vapers online, and most of it has the same theme: trying to discredit the science. Many of us who work on these issues have received threats. There’s even something called the Vaping Militia that has bullied health educators at public forums. It has been scary. We want to allow for a dialogue with people who are supporters of these devices, but it has to be a productive conversation.

I have never threatened anyone. I’ve been on twitter a little while, never SEEN anyone threatened – heard of it, maybe it’s happened – shouldn’t!

On proper engagement – I’ve been blocked by Glantz, Chapman, quite a few others, like “Dr Campbell” above – but they don’t want to hear truth. They want to hear accolades and agreements with their versions of fluff – not even their own studies, just bloated old bores without meaning wanting the masses like ME to bleet like sheep at their lack of both intelligence and honesty. They want respect, they want nodding heads, attaboys – Well – start telling the truth if you want that.

credi

Productive conversations begin with harm reduction. Ecigarette-Research.Org shows science, research and education in all forms.

I’m shocked that a “Digital Communications Expert, Anti-Tobacco Warrior” like yourself can’t seem to find that.

Footnote: There’s no productivity when “experts” block.

On lessons from the front lines

I would say the work in tobacco control has mostly taught me about fighting the good fight. There are so many people out there who want to be rid of these products.

I’m more inspired by those people than I am scared of the bullies.

091

I”m not bullying anyone. I’m stating facts. You’re perversion of those facts are influencing people to make decisions to continue smoking rather than get off tobacco. Feel good about yourself having the last word. Your “expertise” is questionable at best. Your effort to be a warrior is laughable and irresponsible.

Very irresponsible. So much so, you’re pretentious attitude and “expertise” can alter peoples decision to stay on combustible cigarettes. Good for you. Keep that up.

federalpolicyonresearchmisconductOhhh, that’s right, you didn’t cite any of your own research, you just jumped on the bandwagon.

You know who inspires me? People who are responsibly getting themselves off tobacco. Effectively, they’re doing your job. That must make you feel wonderful. Against everything including you – and people like you – spouting all the efforts of a seasoned “expert”, e-cigarettes are changing the world.

I’ll bet you one paycheck against yours, if you properly SEEK the truth and you properly engage ANY of these Professionals at M.O.V.E. – not one will “bully” you. Not ONE. They’ll tell you – not suggest – tell you what you should be saying. With proof. Science. Research.

What are you afraid of? You certainly didn’t allow for comments on sacmag.com – that must have meant you wanted control. The last word. Well, sweetie, you’re not getting it, history is.

We’re saving our own lives despite you and sadly, people like you.

Health Issues Concerning E-Cigarette Users, Public Health Experts, FDA & CDC; For Immediate Release.

heart

E-cigarettes have been around more than 10 years. Toxins & carcinogens are just some of the harsh warnings from politicians and governments worldwide to the public, yet the popularity continues to rise, despite the studies they have seen.

Usage is at an all time high regardless of the latest campaigns warning of possible effects and  public health experts continuing to demonize these devices claiming not enough is known.

Users are coming clean with their experiences.

Below are testimonies from users giving first hand accounts of their personal accounts.

No edits, answers are exactly as given in response to a worldwide survey in response to health issues associated with their individual e-cigarette usage.

These are anonymous answers, there are no conflicts of interest. No individual was compensated for their answers or time, all answers were voluntarily given. These are their voices.

less chronic cough during winter

not significantly, but better

I am asthmatic since baby, thanks to vapotage I no longer suffer to the problem.

Ha-ha, love the “yes” and “no” answers to that open question !

Los beneficios han sido evidentes desde el principio casi.

Additional benefits: far fewer colds and other passing infections since changing to vaping. NO coughing or chest infections at all.

I was hospitalized for double pneumonia and doctor said he saw no detrimental effect to vaping and that perhaps the moisture would in fact be good for breaking up my lungs. And some insurance companies are now considering vaping to not he considered as a smoker which lowers insurance premiums.

In the first week i could breath better, walk stairs without going out of breath. I have less colds and the one i have heals faster.

My bad smokers cough has all but gone, and I don’t get out of breath as quickly when exercising

I cut my 5K run time by 8 minutes.

Sense of taste & smell back to normal after 45 years. No cruddy lungs. Hardly ever suffer from colds now. House & car smells like a sweet shop.

Being a diabetic (type 2) since I started vaping my bs reading are somewhat higher. Now as I have only found 1 juice I like, if it is affecting my BS levels it’ll be a bit of a bugger.

I coughed myself to a bloody mess while smoking. Research showed; cancer, no. copd, yes. I was already coughing for a long time a lot.

I never cough now and I can breathe better. I am also not so depressed.

My fingers used to go white on cold days, but now I don’t suffer with that or the chilblains that I used to. I must assume my circulation is improving.

Since i’m vaping my Health is much better than before.

I simply feel better in myself generally

I think when you stuff up and get e-juice directly in your mouth this could be an issue that may cause irritation at least.

I feel betetr and can breathe easier now.

Because vaping is healthier than smoking

Because i feel loads better vaping and i am way happier

I do blood test every 6-12 months to monitor my liver due to my long term liver condition. The condition has been improving over last 18 months.

My weight has increased donce I quit smoking and started using an e-cigarette…which was an annoying but acceptable downside.

Stomach problems doctor said vaping causes it. Acid.

I’m able to smell much much better since i vape (that is sometimes a disadvantage, e g in the Underground Train …)

I can taste food better too 😀

Sanity, yes the present anti smoking tactics are driving people mad!

Taste and smell is sharper. Also no phlegm.

Better overall improvement in my health.

I haven’t noticed any benefits really. But i was starting to develop a cough upon waking just before i started vaping and the cough went away within a week of starting vaping.

Taste and smell are back to

No more BP meds or cholesterol meds required now. Only thing which is slow to recover and continues to be a bit of an issue is poor circulation.

Don’t cough all the time any more, don’t wheeze when I work hard, don’t feel like I’m dying after a night of drinking and my taste is as I remember it before I became a smoker.

I still have some breathing issues but I have gained quite a bit of weight. Not because of vamping but due to an injury that immobilised me for some time.

There is no longer the nasty smoke smell and smokers breath that comes with using cigarettes.

I do feel better in myself.

Fortunately I didn’t experience health problems from smoking, so there was no change after switching to vaping. I have had bronchitis twice since vaping though, and had never had it before when smoking. I also have frequent problems with throat and bronchial irritation, dryness and soreness from vaping.

generallly felt better

Haven’t really noticed any changes maybe easier to breathe

I had no health issues from smoking, but since starting to vape, I have had no colds, flu, or hayfever.

Right at the start i did have some bleeding gums sore throut and coughing up all kinds of bad stuff, but i had similar problems in other quit efforts

i have a slight intolerance to PG, but if i smke a 70/30 VG/PG i am ok

Heavy vaping can be dehydrating & can upset gums or throat, even get on your chest a little but those things are more common with cheap mystery e-liquids. By contrast, good quality e-liquids from trusted vendors where we can trace the ingredients are far friendlier. The symptoms are minor compared with those from smoking.
You should learn about what is in e-liquid & how to select different ratios of pg & vg.

My taste, and smell have also improved………

I don’t cough in the morning, also stopped producing any kind of black mucus. I breathe easier and can do exercice for longer without running out of breath.

BECAUSE ITS TRUE

Only a problem with dry mouth hurting me.

vape is extremely profitable

I have some health problems already, but they were not smoking-related. I haven’t noticed any health improvements, but I am happy that I am avoiding the risk of smoking-related health probles now!

Cardiac and family doctors both say I’m better.

dont get a cold as often as I used to

No wheezing, no extreme wheezing when lying down, lung test I tested way better than my age! No more blood pressure meds since down to zero nic.

My allergies improved, the slight smoker’s cough I had is gone, and my overall health has improved noticeably. I simple feel better.

Cholesterol dropped from 430 to 280 (w/o medication), stamina greatly increased, lost all indications of perio (previously treated for 10 years), total loss of angina events

I have more energy, my heart rate doesn’t go nuts when I climb a flight of stairs. It’s great.

I can run up stairs again. I don’t get winded dragging my trashcans down my 500-foot long driveway, and I’m back into mountain biking.

My cigarette habit affected my health in such a way that I had to sell my old mountain bike.

3 doctors are thrilled and have me down as a former smoker.

Singing voice is much better of after only a month off pf the cigarettes, the vape doesn’t seem to do any harm as long as I’m not dehydrating, but thats just all the more reason to stay hydrated.

MY LUNG’S SOUND CLEAR AND MY PULSE AND BLOOD PRESSURE ARE BELOW NORMAL NOW. I WORK OUT AND I HAVE A PULSE OF 60 NOW INSTEAD OF 88 AND MY BP IS 102-64 WHICH IS EXCELLANT.

Breathing is better. Sleep pattern is better. I feel all round much healthier since quitting smoking.

I feel 100% more healthy since I quit smoking

I feel much fitter in every aspect. Only side effect I’ve noticed is a dry mouth in the mornings.

I have not had any adverse effects since I started vaping.

I dont use my inhaler nearly as much just when my allergy kicks in

Breathe easier, less coughing, don’t stink, less headaches

I didn’t smoke long enough to have any medically diagnosed issues, but I have noticed a significant drop in pain from deep breathing, and soooooooo much less coughing.

I fell beter in every point since I am vaping

No more smokers cough, more stamina, it smells nothing after cold smoke, the taste buds have recovered.

.

my breathing is better, my food taste better and i am sleeping better

I wasn’t a smoker, but I do experience psychological benefits. It helps me relax and de-stress

I’ve never had blood tests etc but I feel amazing. Far better than when I was smoking.

All around better health. Doc commented that my lungs haven’t sounded THAT good in a long while

For years I’ve had problems with my tonsils, every 3-4 months they got infected. Since I quit smoking I hadn’t had any problems with them whatsoever.

only one cough/cold in over 2 years

When ever I walk by someone vapeing it triggers an asthma attack.

Used to fail lung function tests as a smoker – had to do lung function tests at work in the factory I worked in they were done 3 monthly – failed every one of them, when I had been vaping 11 months I had a lung function test at my local hospital – I passed – and the nurse advised that my lung capacity at that time was only 2% less than a non smoker – I would be interested in having another one in a years time to see what level my lungs are then

Yes and no are odd options here. Also have better skin and appetite.

I breath better and the morning coughing jags are gone.

You forgot the one that says: No more bad breath.
Also in 2014 I saved 60.300 NOK by not buying cigarettes.

I can Smell better, my taste improved.

no coughing in the morning, less coughing in general, when ill. Less susceptible to common cold and such, sense of smell and taste are better, curtains and living environment in general smells better (usually fruity) 🙂 etc…

Barley using my asthma inhalers what a difference

I have noticed no differences, positive or negative, since I started vaping

Haven’t really noticed any difference

No pneumonia this last year, usually had it 2-3 times a year while smoking.

Better breathing, better smelling ability, better overall feeling.

I get occasional tickling in the back of my throat when I don’t drink enough liquids whilst vaping. Nothing compared to my laboured breathing and morning coughs when smoking though!

breathing, strength increased

When I smoked I had heavy smokers cough,
sometimes so strong that I could hardly breathe.

The smoker’s cough is completely gone.

Since I vapors can I smell better.
A week after I smelled immediately if a smoker was near the bus, or passing me left.

I started on 27 March with 11mg nicotine, now I have reduced to 3 mg nicotine.

complexion improved and not had one cold or flu bug since vaping…due to the PG i assume…being an fda approved air sanitiser

I do have problems with flavours, so I use them only in very low concentrations <1%.

My stamina is much better, I breath much easier, walking uphill and in stairs isn’t as much of a hassle as it used to be, and my fingers, nails and teeth aren’t as yellow as they used to be.

My lungs feels healthier.

i can feel it for my health was vaping the right Thing.

better health

Never felt better. Vapeing saved my life.

My astma has disapearred and I can breath normally.
My overall condition is better, taste and smell is better.

It’s true…

BP down significantly.
Breathing better.
Sleep better.
Stopped snoring.
More energy.
Not cranky and resentful like other methods of trying to quit smoking.

better breathing, no slimy throat / smoker’s cough @morning, better tasting,..

There you have it. Health concerns public health experts, the FDA & CDC don’t want to hear. They in fact are ignoring them. Beneficial Bias? Yes. Truth? Absolutely.

Why are they ignoring the best way to reducing smoking or eliminating it all together?

Tobacco Control & others including the American Lung Association have their own view. They don’t like smoking, but they don’t like e-cigs. One would think any anti-tobacco agency would embrace these as a way to get people off of tobacco, but there are other motives. It seems “control” is slipping away from them one quitter at a time.

Reasons Tobacco Control, Public Health, Government & Politicians don’t like e-cigs.

25 Years & Fairy Tales, E-cigarettes, Tobacco Control & Children!

children

Tobacco or health. It’s a battle I myself have fought – smoked over 30 years. The choice to smoke cigarettes is a personal one. There are people who want to end that choice, and seem to be on a mission.

Please, for your sake, don’t get your panties in a bunch. Breathe if you can. There’s actually no worries right now. Don’t believe their claims of urgency. It’s not THAT important. In fact, smoke ’em if you’ve got them ~there is plenty of time.

That’s right, plenty of time.  There’s no need to rush the tobacco stores, no need to stockpile. For goodness sake, you don’t need to find a video on youtube on how to grow your own tobacco – there will be plenty to go around, and experts are assuring us of that!

As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t worry at ALL. They’re not sure about e-cigarettes either…. so you’ve got at least another 25 years according to recent “leading” public health since there’s an invigorating turbo-charged effort.

An Article in The Lancet has stated :

“Leading public health researchers call for the sale of tobacco to be phased out by 2040……with sufficient political support and stronger evidence-based action against the tobacco industry, a tobacco-free world – where less than 5% of adults use tobacco – could be possible in less than three decades“.

“could be possible”  ????    Are you serious? Is this a bad joke??? I thought this was important.

“with a call on the United Nations (UN) to lead a “turbo-charged” effort against the sale and consumption of tobacco”.

How long will this turbo-charged effort take? Well… 2040 is the turbo-charged goal? “~~possible in LESS than three decades”… there, that sounded better. THAT’S A GOAL?

I don’t have my handy-dandy calculator, and I’m not a very smart man, but that’s 25 years. If my son had a child today, that child will have graduated college and started his or her life – and about a year later, could be a part of world where 5% of the population may still be using tobacco… that’s the BEST these “angry” world health experts can come up with? The efforts to end tobacco isn’t new, is it? Tax dollars go to campaigns to “curb” tobacco every day.

This is the best they can do, and they’re health and tobacco control leaders?

The 16th annual World Conference on Tobacco or Health, chaired by W.H.O.’s Dr Douglas Bettcher and Dr Vera Da Costa e Silva,  has given it’s stance on tobacco here in this link.

They have this incredibly urgent goal to end tobacco as we know it. Evidently, combustible tobacco must go and this article states that

“The *contentious issue of e-cigarettes or ENDs [electronic nicotine delivery systems] was tackled in several sessions at this week’s  World Conference on Tobacco or Health”……..

*Dictionary alert: “contentious definition”

1:  likely to cause disagreement or argument <a contentious issue>
2:  exhibiting an often perverse and wearisome tendency to quarrels and disputes

Why is it likely to cause disagreement or argument? Are you people STUPID?

Do you want tobacco to go away or not? It’s not complicated…

You mentioned  “Aggressive marketing of ENDs by the tobacco industry whose campaigns target children and young people” and I’ll get to that, but I’m trying to stay focused here, people……….

“more research into the potential harms and public health benefits of e-cigarettes is urgently needed.”

“Both panels agreed that combustion of tobacco is an obsolete process, that marketing of these ENDs to young people should be banned, and that more research into the potential harms and public health benefits of e-cigarettes is urgently needed.”

Are you kidding me? Urgently needed research??? On e-cigarettes??? Have some of you been hiding under a big pile of…cash?

Research: E-Cigarette Research

RESPONSIBLE Medical Professionals; Researchers, Scientists, Doctors, Nurses, Health Professionals are at M.O.V.E.

Both of these articles are wonderful. They lead you to believe they can’t do it. Let me explain something. Less than 10 years would be an acceptable goal. Both reasonable, with the new fangled technology called an “e-cigarette”… AND I have no reason to believe that 10 years is not reachable. Anything more is stalling for time and unacceptable.

Contribution and support by ANYONE to a 25 year goal can only lead anyone smart enough to put their pants on that

when they say goal, they mean revenue.

Revenue for themselves in funding, research, taxes, and for their silent partners; corporate partners… pharmaceuticals, governments, tobacco, and health. It’s not about health. It’s not about goals. It’s about revenue and how they’re going to prolong that and how they’ll get away with it, that’s the goal……

These people make money from tobacco. Ironically, funding research for tobacco is nothing new. Neither is treating sick people. What have they been doing since the 1960’s??? Playing tiddlywinks? Crossing fingers?

Backroom deals. Looking the other way.

Your path as a smoker is paved with money for them. You smoke. Tobacco company profits. Insurance companies profit. The tax revenue is rolling in for anyone in tobacco control as well…………..

You want to quit? Pharmaceutical companies have product for that. Most have a low rate of success, but that’s ok. You’re led to believe it’s YOU. Try harder. You’ll feel guilt or sickness eventually… you’ll come back.

You get sick? Too bad…. cough – cough up some money….

Health care providers & pharmaceutical companies profit because you need medicine.

You get really sick? Cancer? Well… they told you so, didn’t you listen to the anti-tobacco ads? Now you’re costing the world money. Lets face it, you’re a number. You’re not THAT important. The government likes statistics. They thrive on numbers. You statistic, you.

Like my Father & Grandmother, they became statistics by default. Lung cancer. I miss them dearly, would give anything to have them on either side of me now, and would loved to have them alive to see these days and stupidity.

This fight is becoming rougher to fight and I need “good people” to help.

New technology, new rules. Old guard. The way of the world. Status quo. These aren’t your average battles. These aren’t your average troubles. The technology is here. The research is here.

Public health will distort a story and create a false campaign and lies big enough that the masses will believe it,  and something needs to be DONE. Not what can we do, so I need someone to tell me what needs to be DONE. I’m working on that….. but it’s not working………….so:

fairy talesIn 25 years, I’ll be 72. Damn, there’s an eye opening moment….

Which leads me to fairy tales and children. The effect on children is a common war-cry of the “experts”. I must point out that parenting skills are obviously at an all time low in this country. First of all, if children can buy cigarettes, they can buy anything. Those are well within the market. If you’re against e-cigarettes, you’re an idiot if you’re in public health, politics  or any position with a title and don’t understand that this is not tobacco – and if you can’t see why this IS about children, you need to move on

You aren’t thinking of the children. That’s your facade. That’s your war cry. That’s because you have nothing else to garner support. The list of irresponsibility in public health gets bigger and longer as the lies progress. I hear class action lawsuits are brewing to have these false claims cease & desist – you are infringing upon health. You are infringing upon rights. I’ll go with my short list for now:

Senator Barbara Boxer. A Senator. In Cali? Where the MSA funds are WAY overspent? No ulterior motives there.

Dr. Kevin Campbell. Plays a doctor on T.V. – likes to discuss “dangers” but doesn’t discuss, gives opinion and needs more time. Likes ratings.

Professor Glantz. NOT a doctor. NOT an expert, claims he’s a tobacco control expert. Loves attention.

Roger Bezanis, Not a doctor – but eludes to being one. Takes photos of sick people, claims they are vapers and loves fruits and smacking himself in the head with frying pans.I’m not sure I spelled his name right – maybe it’s Beavis, as in butthead.

Judy Judd. Not a doctor. Not an expert. Tobacco control, apparently.

Dr. Charles J Bentz Thinks he’s a doctor, evidently now a “guest” writer.

ALL of you above are against something that takes people away from tobacco. Why aren’t your efforts heavily and completely focused on tobacco? Guilty by association, I can only presume you want people to smoke and like spewing drivel… dripping down your chins…. you irresponsible greedy self-indulgent pricks. You’re not thinking of children. Define slander.

I’m not sure what kind of fairy tales I’ll tell my first grandchild and how the story will end, but I’ll peer into the future for a moment.

How it may go:

Grandpa, did you smoke? Yes I did, but I found a way to stop without any detrimental effects after trying many other ways that didn’t work with what they called an e-cigarette- it was amazing – electronic – you can probably find my blog if they haven’t censored it yet on the internet… it was the “vaping truth”…… It was around a while, no troubles… as irresponsible “experts”, officials and governments started seeing what was going on, pointed out by greedy corporations and self-indulgent lobbyists, they took control of it by first saying it was bad, then by regulating it, then taxing it, then ultimately banning and continuing to control it. I couldn’t access it and by what they said, it was worse than tobacco, so I just went back to smoking… Listen, if you never hear another word from me, please know that I hope you never start smoking, you’ll end up like me. Helpless and on oxygen.

How I hope it goes:

Grandpa, did you smoke? Yes I did, but I found a way to stop without any detrimental effects after trying many other ways that didn’t work. Your father saw my struggle and thankfully never smoked, but witnessed my struggle and ultimately my success with what was called an e-cigarette. That struggle of trying to quit led him to understand that he shouldn’t smoke. I found a way to stop and thankfully there were responsible experts & authorities who had the nerve to stand up to very powerful people, governments & corporations, recognizing that the e-cigarette is an amazing technological tool for millions. Your Great-Grandfather didn’t live to see it, but would have embraced it.

It sounds good to say “endgame”…. but really it’s not an endgame. It’s just a game. Lives are at stake, and 25 years is much too long to entrust this responsibility of millions of lives with irresponsible people.

Please, give Clive Bates an honest visit to get his points on the tobacco endgame. In 25 years, I hope I can portray my thoughts 1/25th as well as he does:

The tobacco endgame – a critical review of the policy ideas

California public health, you tried again with your #stillblowingsmoke campaign…… face it, you’re still supporting smoking! (well you’re supporting your own $$$ revenue habit by misleading the public).

You have an ad with CHILDREN vaping in it???? How responsible…. you’re still wasting hard earned MSA tax dollars. What will those supporters think this time knowing you’ve spent 75 MILLION dolllars  and it’s all gone up in smoke?
