Vaping In The News – May 28th – June 3rd, 2017

A Vaper’s View ~ California  ~ Cotton Candy  ~ Heat Not Burn ~ Smokers ~ Australia ~ AVA ~ Bill Godshall ~ ECVA ~ Vape Advocacy ~ Insurance ~ Batteries

A Vaper’s View

Jerry Iozzo, who I affectionately call the Marathon Man, and Jen Hoban have written this piece found in the Duluth News Tribune:

A Vaper’s View: Raising ‘smoking age’ won’t curb tobacco use

California

“the only places you’ll legally be allowed to vape in Laguna Beach will be inside homes and cars.”

California gets even crazier despite mounting evidence against gateway theory

The very reason for “control” is what?

innco

Cotton Candy Is NOT Marketing To Kids

Another whom I adore, Skip has something to say.

Cotton Candy is NOT Marketing To Kids

I’ve featured her before here.

Heat Not Burn

A serious & in-depth look at these products from The Fergus Mason.

Heat Not Burn

Smokers

“and if you ever make an “unhealthy” decision, then you are simply wrong and need to be controlled by your owner the government.”

It’s time to stand up for smokers’ rights

Isn’t it your job to know more?

The woman misinforming folks below is “President-Elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics”.

Chris Baxter explains what she obviously doesn’t “know”.

Australia

They LIKE cigarettes. Those aren’t going anywhere.

Gone in 60 seconds: Govt backs vaping law then announces inquiry one minute later

Inquiry into the Use and Marketing of Electronic Cigarettes and Personal Vaporisers in Australia

 AVA

The AVA supports this bill.

AVA Submits Letter in Support of H.R. 2194 to Rep. Duncan Hunter

Bill Godshall

From the Hartland hearings.

Vape Advocacy

Jim McDonald asks “Who do you trust?”

Vape advocacy: what is worth supporting?

Insurance.

The regulation of NICOTINE as tobacco has much farther reaching issues.

This on the surface, seems “better”.

E-Cigarettes and Life Insurance

ambulance chasers

Batteries

If you’re a vendor, you need to take note. Vendors, battery safety is paramount. Include a pamphlet – talk to your customers  – OFFER battery cases!!!!!

Stay away from ambulance chasers.

I HATE linking this, so it is here using a “do not link” code.

Have E-Cigarettes Changed Your Life? Do you Advocate?

21

E-cigarettes change lives.

We who have stopped smoking with an e-cigarette, some accidentally, have this enormous gratification after many years of trying all the approved methods.

We’ve been shamed, scolded, been given guilt trips, some have had health issues. Suddenly, we’ve succeeded in reducing or completely eliminating tobacco in our lives.

Suddenly, much to our surprise, without any hesitation, we’ve become empowered with knowledge. Again, accidentally in some cases.

Go here to do something:

We want others to be aware how easy for most of us it was to stop smoking. Some advocate. Some are activists. All the same to me. Turns out – some do, some don’t. Valid reasons below!

Do we relapse?

Well – Alan Beard, very eloquently I may add,  just covered that here: Relapse Prevention.

For the record:

617 “Big Vapors” responded!

79 “Sea Lions”!

Not edited for spelling, worldwide responses.

Question # 45:

I had to ask this question. I wanted to see what would come of it, and tried to make it fun.

advocateactivist

Although I would say I’m an advocate (I’m more than happy to try an convert any smoker who crosses my path), I am unsure how to get into public advocacy, education and knowledge to help others.
Saturday, Sep 26th 3:39AM

I wouldn’t go as far as calling myself an advocate, there are many whom I will not belittle by calling myself such – many doing great work and far far more than I can hope to. Besides, I’m not very diplomatic, so dealing with stubborn nutters might end up with me stabbing someone. (Just kidding)

I do try and educate and inform wherever I can. I try and keep up with the articles on vaping in the news, and to call out the bullshit in these articles/tweets/posts/comments if applicable/neccecary. I do my best to post sources where allowed etc.

I am very much Pro-Vape and maybe a mini-advocate 😛
Tuesday, Aug 4th 7:15AM

I am constantly correcting people on their misconceptions and incorrect information that they put out there in regards to vaping. I also talk to people in regards to the difference between the two
Monday, Aug 3rd 7:17PM

Every person in my family who used to smoke, no longer does. Five vapers, all two years or more. I’m THRILLED.
Saturday, Aug 1st 6:42PM

I regularly speak to mp’s about proposed regulations and what negative impact on vaping they may have. Also active on forums and Facebook vaping groups. As well as signing petitions against regulations.
Friday, Jul 31st 6:56PM

I did had a Blog or still have, but it
has become pointless….
the only one reading them are the vapors
in my country…
All they can do is acknowledge my rants
Monday, Jul 27th 4:49PM

I’m limited on time because i work full time and have a family but i make as much noise as i can!
Monday, Jul 27th 12:59PM

i get very protective about vaping since i am a user and i know the benefits that it has brought to me
Wednesday, Jul 22nd 8:47AM

I’m not home right now in the states havn’t been for 5 years – when I get home I will be very active in my local government with vaping products.
Sunday, Jul 19th 9:50AM

Glantz! Enough said.
Friday, Jul 17th 5:01PM

I’m in dialogue with local health services and NHS about the words on their website.
Wednesday, Jul 15th 6:33PM

I am still new to this, but I see that this could save millions of people from chronic illness and horrible deaths and the risk that this tremendous opportunity may be lost because of the organized efforts of special interest groups.
Tuesday, Jul 14th 10:21PM

The way I see it, people should be able to do what they want. I’ll happily tell people it’s awesome and encourage them to try mine, but I’m not going to shove it down people’s throats.
Tuesday, Jul 14th 3:08PM

Out of 15 or so people that I have educated on vaping and who have decided to start vaping, over 10 of them have quit smoking completely. And I just converted another one this week! I am also a sea lion.
Tuesday, Jul 14th 2:29PM

As I’m staying in China, I face very different issues and have only limited opportunities to get involved. On a personal level, though, I’m passively active – that means, I use flashy, high-end gear which attracts attention and educate then. If I stayed in the West, I’d get involved a lot more.
Sunday, Jul 12th 9:03PM

Amen
Monday, Jul 13th 12:55PM

The only thing better than becoming a non-smoker is helping another to achieve the same goal. In the current anti-vape climate that means fighting the good fight to preserve the ability of others to quit smoking in the future.
Monday, Jul 13th 8:53AM

I have converted 3 smokers that I am aware of, and preach whenever possible.
Sunday, Jul 12th 7:18PM

I’m not really actuve, but if someone makes it easier for me, i. E. Points out surveys /petitions, I’ll participate
Sunday, Jul 12th 7:03PM

sea lions need love too.. sorry had to click it, the rest is true
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:49PM

I think everyone needs to know the difference between the 2, know that they are 1000% safer, that there’s no such thing as second hand vapor and that Vaping is NOT smoking. Smoking would require Fire, steam is not fire, it’s moisture. I could go on and on.
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:54PM

I used to blog, and was quite active online, but fatherhood has significantly reduced my “free” time. I very much want to be more vocal as I believe e-cigarettes have lengthened (and possible saved) my life for my son!
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:12PM

I do whatever I am able to spread proper information to whomever I am able to and to help educate everyone both smoker and non smoker.
Sunday, Jul 12th 2:33PM

LMAO….OK I have officially become a thing…Thank you for thd title?
Sunday, Jul 12th 1:57PM

Nuff said above. Being disabled with only partial use of my legs, I can only do so much then am shot, no longer can I do the things I once did. Now the little bit of what I do do, my pain levels go into hyper super over drive and I wind up screaming like a little girl because of the pain. Is what it is, I do what I can when I can, how I can for as long as I can.
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:14PM

There’s no need to push it on anyone, but when
they ask, I inform. Many has been converted, but
I’m not here to decide for anyone.
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:41PM

To be able to help someone be successful switching to e-cig is an honor. To be a small part of their journey to success is amazing. There has never been a more successful way to stop smoking in my life.
Sunday, Jul 12th 7:20AM

I started a vaping group on Facebook!
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:38AM

I try to help in any way I can, and I get help and input from others.
Sunday, Jul 12th 3:45AM

I try to spread the word but I’m not going out of my way to do it. I help the people I know. Most won’t quit smoking until they are ready anyway.
Saturday, Jul 11th 9:18PM

I am of limited resources, but I do what I can when I can, and would like to do more, but lifestyle restrictions limit my activity.
Saturday, Jul 11th 1:23PM

I condone vaping, I’m not a preacher.
Saturday, Jul 11th 2:57AM

It has become the biggest passion of my life besides my family. I have seen first hand on the devastation of what tobacco has done to my own family. I would not wish that on anyone!!
Saturday, Jul 11th 1:13AM

key word is breathing
Friday, Jul 10th 11:48PM

I have not been involved in organized advocacy. I have signed a few petitions. My work involves advocacy and support in a different area and most of the time my effort is spent there.
Friday, Jul 10th 10:34PM

Big supporter and believer
Friday, Jul 10th 8:34AM

I don’t force it to anyone, like vegans do to carnivores. If someone wants to know about it, I give them the information.
Tuesday, Jul 7th 6:42PM

Supporter of the new nicotine alliance.
Sunday, Jul 5th 10:54AM

If some one ask or start to talk with me when I’m vaping I try to advise them. I also give them information about e-cigarettes and if I’m unavailable to give them information that they want to know I give directions where they might find more if they are intrested.
Wednesday, Jul 1st 12:58AM

I do like to preach to the minions when I can tell them all I can till they get sick of me
Wednesday, Jul 1st 12:32AM

Not on Facebook/Twitter but on my Instagram account I am an advocate.
Wednesday, Jul 1st 7:44AM

I building my boxmods.
Wednesday, Jul 1st 3:38AM

I don’t hide the fact I vape, and if someone asks I try and educate them. I believe in “live and let live” kind of philosophy…as long as they don’t bother me, I don’t bother them.
Tuesday, Jun 30th 7:18PM

I do support the efforts of others as much as I can.
Tuesday, Jun 30th 2:55PM

I always try to convert smokers into vapers by positive encouragment.
Tuesday, Jun 30th 3:26PM

Perhaps I should be more involved, but I have only recently converted from cigarette (nearly 3 months) and am just finding my way through all the forum information – hence arriving at this survey.
Monday, Jun 29th 5:51AM

well that one was an easy one, I find it hard to understand why anyone that has switched and is aware of the issues, wouldn’t advocate
Sunday, Jun 28th 10:19PM

I dislike scaremongering and people who are collectively swayed by posts on social media which are clearly rubbish. On a personal level, the people who ask me about it, get my personal opinion which is that Vaping>Smoking. Safer, healthier (although not confirmed as healthy) etcetc
Sunday, Jun 28th 2:35PM

lol about Big Vapor!!
Sunday, Jun 28th 11:27AM

I have gotten into some pretty hot debates about my use of vaping. and during my battles I have been victorious. Knowledge is power and knowing the good and the bad and not being blind by either will be more beneficial to the cause.
Sunday, Jun 28th 11:02AM

If people don’t hear testimonies, what’s the point of them trying to quit? They don’t have proper knowledge on hardware.
Sunday, Jun 28th 11:04AM

I AM PROOF
(I really am)
Sunday, Jun 28th 10:46AM

Only thing I dislike more than propaganda is the people that decide to believe something with no evidence
Saturday, Jun 27th 11:45PM

Shouldn’t that be walrus… Coo coo ca choo 🙂
Saturday, Jun 27th 9:01PM

I convinced all my family (who were all smokers) about the benfits of vaping, now they all vape instead, though my old mother still smokes aswell as vapes sadly.
Saturday, Jun 27th 7:10PM

I helped run a local vape advocacy/user group for more than a year.
Saturday, Jun 27th 4:23PM

where is the one about donating money, time whatever is needed to help??
Saturday, Jun 27th 3:49PM

I believe in this product and industry so whole heartedly, that I became co-president of the Northern California chapter of SFATA, the Smoke Free Alternative Trade Association.
Saturday, Jun 27th 1:30AM

Fighting the fight, living the fight. Every day. Until corrupt government and corporations stop killing us.
Saturday, Jun 27th 1:19AM

Open the window. Join us in our shoutfest.
Friday, Jun 26th 9:12PM

I’m honored to have been called a “Northern Hemisphere Vape Troll” by an Australian politician…
Friday, Jun 26th 4:54PM

I will be involved with the next state hearing, I’ve written letters, emails and made calls since switching to stop the incredibly irresponsible propaganda.
Thursday, Jun 25th 3:55PM

I am involved with trying to give people the correct information and I am involved in groups on line and a supporter of the nna
Thursday, Jun 25th 7:42AM

I was much more involved at the beginning. Now, I let the others do the work.
Thursday, Jun 25th 3:41AM

NNA 4 LYFE!
Wednesday, Jun 24th 6:16PM

Personally assisted with the quiting of smoking of 4 other people. They are happier and healthier now.
Wednesday, Jun 24th 4:37PM

Fuck Big Tobacco – I smoke on my terms, and will 99.9% of the time choose an ecig over a tobacco product.

Wednesday, Jun 24th 9:11AM

My parents were 30+ year smokers. I got them vaping and now my mom doesn’t Vape anymore and my dad loves it. ✋
Wednesday, Jun 24th 9:01AM

Not much going on locally on activism. No point in doing the MURICAN stuff as I’m not from there or living there.
Wednesday, Jun 24th 7:40AM

i was somehow evolved but became sick of all the drama
Wednesday, Jun 24th 6:41AM

I do occasionally get blocked by vapers, strangely enough. They are negative or even try to block your actions. Sometimes really strange.
Wednesday, Jun 24th 6:12AM

I’m signed up with CASSA
Wednesday, Jun 24th 5:20AM

Fuck big tobacco!
Wednesday, Jun 24th 4:28AM

I could not activate the questions re order of benefits, for some reason? But My number 1 answer would be to explain the differences between vaping and smoking.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 9:12PM

Sadly I scream the benefits much less now, did more when first starting out. Got absolutely tired of explaining over and over how much false crap there is in articles.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 8:34PM

I do not involve in advocacy bcause i am quite hot blooded. I can’t stand lies, i can’t stand the way advocacy has to be done. I would probably end up in jail 😉 However, i try as much as i can to make people switch to ecig if they get interested. Explaining, lending some kind of “basic kits” to let them try without spending too much money, giving advices….and so on.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 5:33PM

I have been able to explain benefits to smokers, some have made the switch but some others failed, and I not able to understand why they failed (even if I have asked, it appears that themselves they don’t really know , they have nothing to reproach to e-cigarettes…)
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 4:26PM

It does change a life. I was heading to a slow death holding a cigarette.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 2:33PM

I am proof
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 1:06PM

I advocate against the corruption and abuse of science for financial benefits not only for vaping but for smoking and other corrupted issues as well.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 12:42PM

While not as active as some, I am a very active, loud voice in the vaping community.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 10:32AM

The local BBC radio station regard me as knowledgeable and have interviewed me on more than one occasion. (I’m also a vendor)
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 10:04AM

Tuesday, Jun 23rd 8:37AM

If someone wants to quit, I recommend e-cigs, and a friend of mine has already quit tobacco.

Tuesday, Jun 23rd 6:03AM

I am a seal lion? Really? Cool 🙂
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 5:54AM

I try to do all I can to try and get the word out.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 4:42AM

President of Vapers Finland, Finnish Association of vapers
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 4:36AM

I did attend the damp protest in Utrecht
(Netherlands) last month.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 3:53AM

I am a full time advocate, a part time activist and a part time agitator with both ANTZ and other advocates. With ANTZ, this means arguing with them over their logical fallacies, exposing them as frauds. With other advocates, I explore new ideas in advocacy – I put them out there to be picked apart, refined and eventually, for others to use in advocacy.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 1:05AM

I have several health conditions that have very little to do with my past history of smoking and definitely nothing to do with vaping. I have MVP syndrome along with two opposite autoimmune thyroid diseases; smoking may have helped damage my thyroid, but it also allowed me to raise two boys until they got old enough to do for themselves because smoking also masks thyroid disease symptoms. I do what I can, when and where I can from an advocacy standpoint.
Tuesday, Jun 23rd 12:32AM

I am deaf so I don’t like to go talk in person to someone regarding them. I am rather anti government and do now wish to talk to them at all as much as I know that is not right it is just my not being able to handle the stress they cause in double speak. Online I have told my story so often and very little good it does. I do a lot of comments on news items online and I use twitter as well as facebook. I keep a google+ page for the links that I think are relevant to where I live or about new science regarding vaping.
Monday, Jun 22nd 4:00PM

I am on vttv
Monday, Jun 22nd 5:48PM

I do what I can. I’m a firm believer that e-cigarettes, even if they were found simply to reduce the chances of lung and heart issues by 50% (IE they were still rather dangerous) would still be worth having over normal cigs.

The fact that seems unlikely, and that no-one has found any real, serious side effects so far (nothing that’s an absolute game stopped) just makes me more of an advocate for them.
Monday, Jun 22nd 4:01PM

Selling e-cigs I talk to people about them every day and try and educate them. I sign any petition I can, share them wherever I can.
Monday, Jun 22nd 3:00PM

Again, editorial staff 🙂 Sending correction notices to media, writing an information leaflet for politicians, the whole nine.
Monday, Jun 22nd 1:51PM

Non of my biker buddies smoke anymore due to ecigarettes. I have helped them with getting started and I’m very proud of that. It’s a real achievement for me.
Monday, Jun 22nd 2:17PM

I do as much as I can, whenever I can to make sure other smokers have the same choices I had.
Monday, Jun 22nd 2:28PM

I feel at times that what the feck are we doing here, seems like we a losing at every turn with bans popping up everywhere, but I know the importance of fighting on as the tide is very slowly turning in our favor.
The legislation IS COMING and we should try our damndest to shape this legislation to keep vaping a viable option to smoking.

Vaping Organizations, Forums & Websites Worldwide.

world

Vaping & E-Cigarette Organizations & Forums are the heartbeat of information. Helping smokers make transitions. Helping new vapers understand what’s going on. Helping people, worldwide.

The forums are also places to teach, learn, compare, ask questions, complain, talk about regulations & much more.

They DO exist.

I have quite a few on the left  – and right of this blog for research & science as well.

Some were included. Some I’d never heard of!

If you’re a United States Vaper, please educate yourself.

The FDA has deeming regulations in progress at the moment.

Go here and do something about that.

Then go here as well.

From the survey – I asked folks to “click” it if you’d heard of any I had listed –

in no particular order, and these are the results.

Below the “official list” there were comments / links to even MORE worldwide.

Enjoy.

These, in order, were the “most heard of”.

The 50th “question”:

These organizations are in no way sponsoring this survey, they are randomly listed so you know they are available and are for your awareness only. Please check the ones you’ve heard of!

“Big Tobacco” Brand E-Cigarettes. What Experts Think.

06

All the “experts” pretending “big tobacco” is gaining a foothold on e-cigarettes. Politicians. Doctors. Public Health. Government. Makes me think that’s what they’re hoping for.

People who don’t have anything better to do to get a tweet for attention – on something they know next to NOTHING about.

I started with a “Krave” – cigalike – and it worked at first  – GOT me to quit smoking. Within a month, I was on – and still use at the moment – an ego style setup. I’m for whatever works. To each his own. It matters not the method, it matters the outcome.

In my opinion, they have a (brief) place in the market, but are only a stepping stone to a better experience with the 2nd, 3rd and now 4th generation e-cigarettes.

As a question to all the “experts”, if the tobacco companies have low success rates with their “style”, what do you think people will do? They’ll go back to smoking.

A follow up: If they won’t tell us what is in cigarettes, what makes you think they’d tell us what’s in their e-cigarette products?

If YOU VAPE, Before you go any further – before you read another line go HERE.

Vapers are speaking out on “tobacco” brand / style e-cigarettes.

Here’s what the last 100 said on the latest survey. No edits to the question:

Do you (or did you) use a “Tobacco Company” brand E-cigarettes?

These are the experts answers.

18latest

They have their place in the market. “Vapor” Cigarettes most definitely have their place in the market as well!
Friday, Oct 9th 5:12PM

I would rather die than give another single red cent to a tobacco company.
Thursday, Oct 8th 11:23AM

They was the first type i tried and they almost discouraged me from trying again, but i did and the mod was a lot more effective
Thursday, Oct 1st 9:22PM

Tobacco Company’s are Legally killing people, I would either like to return the favour or see them jailed.
Tuesday, Sep 29th 6:40PM

I think the tobacco companies have had enough of my money. I would rather support a local vape store that is focused on harm reduction/health and who can show they are using quality ingredients.
Saturday, Sep 26th 3:39AM

They have received enough money from me.
Wednesday, Sep 23rd 1:23PM

I do not trust these people at all. I researched the crap they add to the tobacco and I don’t know how they sleep at night. Shame on big tobacco, shame on the FDA
Wednesday, Sep 23rd 11:29AM

First one i tried, was super strong and made me feel sick. I do not recommend them to anyone.
Wednesday, Sep 23rd 8:18AM

Knowing what I know now, I’d NEVER direct a new vaper to anything related to BT! It won’t work for them and even if it does, it is still lining the pockets of people who want to take away the stuff that actually DOES work for the majority of people!
Wednesday, Sep 23rd 8:02AM

When quitting tobacco I wanted to quit everything about it and wanted NO association with them at all.
I do not associate vaping with smoking. It is not the same thing.
Sunday, Sep 20th 11:04AM

I somehow believe that cigalikes have their mission. They are not so different from smoking ( visual and taste), so for some who try to quit smoking, they can be beneficial. But in the long run, they are not good enough
Monday, Sep 14th 2:54AM

I started with cig-a-likes by premium ecigs. I don’t believe they are big tobacco. I then switched to ego batteries and tanks using juice made by independents
Friday, Sep 11th 2:03PM

Tried them 2 years before I quit cigarettes. Laughably ineffective. Now that I vape real setups I refuse to give tobacco companies the time of day
Friday, Aug 28th 8:26AM

These ones are terrible. Try to act like a cigarette too much.
Tuesday, Aug 11th 7:10PM

Coworkers were unsuccessful with Vuse, so I avoided wasting more money to the Tobacco companies myself.
Friday, Aug 7th 11:05AM

I don’t trust them not to mess with the contents of the eliquid to try and make it more addictive. Nic outside of tobacco has very weak reinforcing properties – it’s the mix of chems in cigs that makes it so addictive in cigarettes.
Tuesday, Aug 4th 7:15AM

I believe I moved from the mark 1 ‘cigarette-like’ e-cigs prior to their acquisition by the tobacco companies
Tuesday, Aug 4th 3:59AM

I believe i have been lied to for far too long by tobacco companies who in my opinion bend the truth to their own financial ends
Monday, Aug 3rd 4:43PM

never purchased one, tried my friends but didn’t like them.
Sunday, Aug 2nd 8:43PM

Besides that I didn’t know I don’t think I would want to …I’ve paid them enough already to try to kill me with all that tobacco garbage.
Sunday, Aug 2nd 8:00PM

I have heard many poor reviews from reputable sources that I’ll never try one and I don’t want to support big tobacco.
From an advanced/hobby vaping perspective they are junk.
Sunday, Aug 2nd 12:14PM

By the time I tried Vuse, I had lost my taste for tobacco so I didn’t like it. Blu did not provide enough nicotine and at the point I tried it did not offer flavors.
Sunday, Aug 2nd 11:11AM

they got me hooked young, but no longer buy ant tobacco company products and neaver will again
Tuesday, Jul 28th 10:57AM

Fuck that, they’ve had enough outa me… I’m surprised I’m still alive thanks to them dirty mother fuckers!
Monday, Jul 27th 12:59PM

I used the Frii system. I have no idea if they are affiliated but I would not knowingly use a device that is tied to the tobacco industry.
Monday, Jul 27th 3:30AM

both were horrible
Sunday, Jul 26th 10:16AM

Use them in a pinch
Sunday, Jul 26th 8:19AM

Tobacco companies should give them away for all the lives they have helped destroy. At last stop selling tobacco.
Sunday, Jul 26th 7:16AM

They are weak and VERY expensive!
Saturday, Jul 25th 11:24PM

Tried the Vuse and the Njoy cigalikes, but they were inefftective and tasted bad. I didn’t know at that time they were owned by Big Tobacco. I’ll never give them my money again.
Saturday, Jul 25th 8:50PM

Very rarely see anyone who successfully quits using cig-alikes. Anyone I’ve met that says they tried them – I recommend using a 2nd or 3rd gen pen or mod from a reputable store with quality e-juice. All have a far more successful outcome.
Saturday, Jul 25th 7:37PM

If .you batteries die I’ll buy one of them before I get a pack of cigarettes.
Saturday, Jul 25th 9:45AM

Tobacco companies don’t offer a product that will let you ADEQUATELY reduce your nicptone gradually… unless you count their AWFUL ego knockoffs.
Friday, Jul 24th 11:39PM

i tried a disposeable one from tesco that was supposed to look and feel like a real cigarette it was too big and heavey in my fingers but taste wise it was ok
Wednesday, Jul 22nd 8:47AM

I used V2 to start but was spending almost the same as smoking
Tuesday, Jul 21st 11:52AM

I actually stuck with a Blu for a long time till I realized it wasn’t meant to be good.
Sunday, Jul 19th 1:05PM

The tobacco companies only put out the closed system pen style systems. I don’t want tobacco flavors and I want control over what I put in it. I don’t want to be stuck buying overpriced, inferior, uncleanable components from only them.
Sunday, Jul 19th 11:12AM

No – they are horrible and horribly made FOR A REASON – to keep people smoking…
Sunday, Jul 19th 9:50AM

These are crap!
I would never try them even at free. I have when I didn’t know better. Knowledge is power.
Sunday, Jul 19th 8:54AM

I had a Vuse on my trip, and it was nice to give me that cigarette feel that I was used to, but it’s not customizable, and you can’t charge it with other e-cig chargers or refill the cartomizer tank with any of your favorite e-liquids. I happened to be in Colorado when I got it and enjoyed the mint and was sorely disappointed to see it wasn’t available in Florida. Plus it just seems super expensive for what it is. It’s okay for a cigarette replacement, but it doesn’t entice people to make the switch, I don’t think.
Saturday, Jul 18th 11:10PM

never again
Saturday, Jul 18th 4:31PM

I’ve tried Mark Ten, but the taste wasn’t good and the mouthpiece heated up and burned my lip. I didn’t use it much, but I still have it. I bought it bc they sent me a coupon for a free one.
Friday, Jul 17th 6:24PM

I seem to be allergic to something in the Logic brand, whenever I use them I get congested, sneeze a bunch and get headaches. Now I use organic e-juice and don’t have those problems.
Thursday, Jul 16th 8:11AM

Only tried one several years ago when travelling. Was not Impressed and resumed looking for outside places to smoke…
Tuesday, Jul 14th 10:21PM

We found a great, locally owned vape shop.
Tuesday, Jul 14th 2:04PM

I no longer use Blue or MarkTen but those are the ones I first tried.
Tuesday, Jul 14th 5:28AM

I can’t stress this enough, I will not support big tobacco anymore. There is one big exception though: if big tobacco would join the market in a meaningful way and specialize in producing extracted tobaccos or nicotine concentrate, while at the same time supporting the change to vaping with their lobbying, I might reconsider.
Sunday, Jul 12th 9:03PM

If I can help it I avoid tobacco owned products. For the most part that I am aware of the the tobacco companies do not make the style devices that I use anyway. I personally feel that vaping needs to be seen as a stand alone and having tobacco companies getting involved makes it hard. Vaping is NOT smoking and it needs to not be seen as such
Monday, Jul 13th 4:45PM

The tobaco companies put out ecigs to have them fail and be expensive to get smokers to give up on ecigs and vaping and go back to smoking thier tobaco products again.
Monday, Jul 13th 4:52PM

The e-cigarettes made my tobacco companies are literally disguisting. They basically make you want a real cigarette as soon as you use one.
Monday, Jul 13th 4:28PM

I know they do the vuse, and other cig a likes I will not spend another dime on an industry set on destroying companies and mom/pop shops. Makes me angry
Monday, Jul 13th 2:11PM

I received a coupon for a free MarkTen starter kit. It was unsatisfying and frustrating. Then, someone gave us a coupon for a Haus starter kit and some ejuice … I was HOOKED! After that, I found a whole world of vaping and mods and flavored juice …
Monday, Jul 13th 3:59PM

BIG TOBACCO SUCKS, I wouldn’t give them the time of day. THEY have killed half my family with those stupid coffin nails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday, Jul 13th 3:29PM

They are only marginally effective, the way advanced devices have progressed they have missed the boat IMO
Monday, Jul 13th 12:55PM

Most tasted like asphalt. Sticking with my fruit and dessert flavors.
Monday, Jul 13th 1:27PM

Who makes ELites? I don’t know. But that didn’t work for me anyway.
Monday, Jul 13th 11:54AM

They were SO SHIT. I cannot emphasize this enough.
Monday, Jul 13th 10:29AM

While they were not effective for me, if they work to help a person to stop smoking they have their place.
Monday, Jul 13th 9:36AM

Started with NJoy cig-alike. Battery and atomizer life was not adequate to fulfill my needs. This device made me more addicted to nicotine due to high nicotine levels in their pre-filled atomizers.
Monday, Jul 13th 8:28AM

I have given them enough money. All they ever gave me was health problems and grief. I’ll never give tobacco companies another penny.
Monday, Jul 13th 2:09AM

Tobacco companies hadn’t really gotten into the e-cigarette market when I started vaping. By the time they did, I had moved on to the Ego.
Sunday, Jul 12th 7:33PM

I refuse to give anymore of my money to tobacco companies. They’ve had a stranglehold on people for far too long!
Sunday, Jul 12th 6:14PM

I tried a few with free coupons (I refuse to give more money to tobacco companies). None of them worked and they tasted disgusting.
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:30PM

Only used one day. It stated that one would last for about a day or equal to a pack of cigs. Lasted about three hours then died.
Sunday, Jul 12th 6:17PM

Used it when I first got out of Basic Training as I didn’t have access to my APV from home and had already fallen back to cigarettes.
Sunday, Jul 12th 6:48PM

the cigalike types i have tried never gave me close to what i needed to quit smoking and made me want a cigarette rather than to quit smoking.
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:21PM

Tried the MarkTen only in a study I participated in.
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:11PM

I tried a vuse one time and it made me sick. I threw it away!
Sunday, Jul 12th 4:54PM

Blu didn’t work for me. I was still smoking until I bought the Ego in November of 2013.
Sunday, Jul 12th 4:42PM

I did not use them… my husband did and once we found out that Big Tobacco had bought them out and were the ones producing them did not trust them to be safe because of not trusting the Big Tobacco and did not want to give Big Tobacco any more of our money
Sunday, Jul 12th 2:33PM

They didn’t work for me because they were WAY TOO STRONG. They were 18mg, and I was used to about 4mg.
Sunday, Jul 12th 3:31PM

Tried the Blue not knowing that big tobacco produced them. Didn’t do a thing for me. I did like the blue glow at night but that was all I liked about it.
Sunday, Jul 12th 3:29PM

From everything I have heard from fellow vapers, the tobacco company brand e cigs are disgusting. That statement from a friend who vapes and tried one of those digital ecigs. He said it was the absolute worse tasting, less vapor, less everything ecig he had ever tried. Which imparted to me that I will not now, nr will I ever try or use one of those things. Even if the FDA bans ecigs, guess I’ll be an outlaw an use everything I have now. At worse I’ll go back to my tubular mech mods and use all my attys on them, I will NOT go to a tobacco company’s brand of ecig.
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:14PM

Blu before they were bought out, then changed as they were very expensive
Sunday, Jul 12th 2:34PM

If you run out of batteries or juice, they are cheap and available at most late night shops in London. So they come in handy at times.
Sunday, Jul 12th 2:20PM

was not really happy with this one, too weak of a draw and bland flavor. I don’t know if this type can really help people quit as well.
Sunday, Jul 12th 2:20PM

I tried one. It tasted like garbage. Can’t remember the brand.
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:07PM

They ended up being the same price as cigarettes in the end-that’s something I can’t afford. They’re also extremely dissatisfying. There are better batteries that last longer and replaceable/refillable cartridges in the independent side of the industry that perform better and are cheaper in the end for the consumer.
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:40PM

It didn’t work.
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:28PM

The ones that look like cigs did nothing for me
Sunday, Jul 12th 12:00PM

Tried a couple found they taste like crap. Didn’t even realize they were made by tobacco companies at the time.
Sunday, Jul 12th 10:23AM

Some people are anxious to stray too far from what they are comfortable with so a cig a like would be beneficial to them for a short time
Sunday, Jul 12th 10:50AM

The very first time way back. I believe they were from Reynolds, but don’t see the name here. As I said, I believe one problem was the nicotine level was too low. Also the batteries died quickly and were expensive to replace.
Sunday, Jul 12th 10:40AM

tobacco company didn’t produce any when i first started e-cigs
Sunday, Jul 12th 9:09AM

I tried a couple of puffs from a ” blu” e-cig. It was gross!! I don’t want to taste tobacco flavor anymore!!
Sunday, Jul 12th 5:38AM

The first 3 months I used tobacco flavor, Virginia tobacco, but changes to sweets and fruit flavors.
Sunday, Jul 12th 3:45AM

was not satisfied with them
Sunday, Jul 12th 4:32AM

I have a local vape shop and went there. They have their own line of juices plus offer several well known small batch USA made juice brands. I started early so the brands listed were not available at the time I started vaping, and I have no interest in “cig-alikes” because I find they do not have the power I need to enjoy vaping.
Sunday, Jul 12th 3:06AM

Tried an NJOY cigalike
Saturday, Jul 11th 9:21PM

I don’t support the companies that are trying to label vaping as smoking. Just by definition it’s not the same.
Saturday, Jul 11th 9:18PM

I was already on a tank style but suggested them to my husband. When he bought the Mark 10 I tried it- it was gross!
Saturday, Jul 11th 9:32PM

I do not think the cig a likes I first started in were make by Big tobacco like Blu’s are but they could have been. I consider them to be a bit of a scam for people just trying to quit.
Saturday, Jul 11th 7:34PM

Not tasted more of them!
Saturday, Jul 11th 6:32PM

The vuse has 48% nic in it. Can we say way over kill even with that high nic it was not satisifying and just made me feel like crap.
Saturday, Jul 11th 6:33PM

Tobacco companies have had enough of my money over the years. I encourage others not to buy big tobacco brands for the same reasons.
Saturday, Jul 11th 1:23PM

Sent off for free sample of Vype (I think) stashed away as a back up emergency use only
Saturday, Jul 11th 11:10AM

I tried the Blu years ago and they did nothing for me… I didnt like the flavor and the hit was horrible!
Saturday, Jul 11th 11:47AM

I despise big tobacco. I will never buy any product from them at any cost. They are amongst the most corrupt businesses in the world.
Saturday, Jul 11th 1:13AM

The flavor was nasty.
Saturday, Jul 11th 12:47AM

They were terrible. Bad taste and so behind on technology
Friday, Jul 10th 11:47PM

There you have it. “Big Tobacco” from #Vapers. Imagine, if their “style” is the only thing available, they win either way.

If they’re the only thing available, and they’re not effective – then people go back to smoking.

Some are worried about this. Well, that’s what they want!

Vapers Claiming Side Effects Of ECigs – Despite VEHEMENT Efforts Of Stunned Experts!

succeed25a

With any “treatment” to stop smoking, there seems to be side effects.

E-Cigarette users are clearly explaining below what effects they are experiencing with their use of this product.

The question is VERY clear to the participant .

With the question comes an answer.

:

Did you notice any NEGATIVE health or side effects once you were off tobacco using an e-cigarette?

Some reported more of this in their system.

There are some very clear and candid answers below.

These responses are unedited from around the world.

25a

  • There was a period with lots of coughing, and my gums where hurting. Turns out I had a lot of flim in my lungs, and my teeth and gums where reacting to increased bloodflow. Made me sceptical for a second, but got over it. NO REGRETS!

  • If anything I found my an increase in health. My breathing has increased with less coughing, my sense of smell had returned and I can smell things I never thought I could, and my sense if taste has come back so things taste way stronger (sugars and things are more sweet or tart)

  • I am purging toxins from smoking tobacco for 29 yrs. I did not experience withdrawals upon Vaping, quitting Tobacco the same day. In the first week of Vaping I know I lost 2-3lbs, this not expected. All is a process of recovery, and for the first time in my life, I am winning. I will not touch another Tobacco cig, the thought of smoking a cig makes me want to vomit.

  • The only negative effects were those associated with quitting smoking, coughing and expelling whatever had accumulated in my lungs over years of tobacco use.

  • In fact I have been getting a biannual medical for the last 18 years, my lung function was slowly but surely declining until I started ecigs, my first medical was after a year and three quarters of vaping and my lung function is fully restored and thats official.

  • Quitting smoking made my gums inflame and bleed, hidden gum infection was able to come forward with the returning blood flow after quitting. First 4 days i had bad withrawl even with extra strong nicotine levels, that made me doubt the nicotine as the addictive ingredient in a tobacco cigarette.

  • When I smoked tobacco I used to get out of breath with moderate excercise. When is started e-cigs I coughed frequently in the beginning, I think this was my body getting rid of the tar from tobacco in my lungs. The coughing stopped after a few months.

  • Infact, 6 months AFTER I started vaping (25 years after I started smoking), I was required to undertake a medical by my then employer, one of the tests was a lung capacity test, I scored well above average for a 42 year old man that had smoked for 25 years, actually, I scored as high as an 18 year old non-smoker, I think that pretty much proved the validity of vaping to me.

  • There were multiple positive, and some unanticipated, health effects of not smoking. Some temporary negative health effects of stopping smoking but mainly due to the fact that there are so little information of what happens when you stop smoking.

  • Only side effects associated with quitting cigarettes and ridding my body of 38 years of smoking. Once my body purged all that poison I only saw improvements. I am now able to walk 10 miles/day without being out of breath. No longer need an inhalant for asthma, and being able to walk helped in a variety of other health issues, so plusses all around

  • Heavy cough in the first 2 weeks, as the lung were “cleaning” themselves. Did also experience what is called “vapor fatigue, or vapor tongue”. someday taste just decided to stop. All flavors were completely muted. I freaked out a bit, went to a forum then again, community helped. Guy explaining what was happening. Followed the advices, taste was back in 2 days.

  • My feet & knees ache sometimes after taking up running. If I was still smoking I’d never be able to run 5 miles every other day. *snark*

  • My heart pains, shotness of breath and overall health seemed to improve dramatically. I had a time I could barely walk a few blocks without being winded .. now I walk my dog for an hour or two with zero issue.

  • MY HEALTH CAME BACK. I CAN BREATH AGAIN FINALLY AFTER STOPPING CIGGARETTES. EVEN ON AN ECIG i CAN BREATH PERFECTLY FINE AND MY DOCTOR THINKS I DONT USE ANYTHING DUE TO MY HEALTH.

  • I feel completely better, no coughing , don’t smell, more willing to get up and do things, like exercise, so many advantages from vaping compared to smoking. It’s a no brainer but the government don’t want us to vape cause they are loosing money, they want us to smoke, for there tax on tobacco. All this gateway stuff is rubbish, just trying to get vaping banned, don’t get me started. It’s a conspiracy by the powers that be to make stuff up about vaping, they don’t want people in authority saying it’s safe to vape.

  • Actually quite the reverse. Didn’t think because I dipped that I wouldn’t have or wouldn’t notice any differences after I quit dipping. I did though notice my taste and smell are much better now than when I was dipping. Haven’t smoked in a long time its been 5 years since I stopped smoking cigars, 20 years since I quit cigarettes. Just figured cause I dipped there wouldn’t be any changes, oh but there were.

  • I still have a bad ‘smokers cough’ from years of smoking damage. I now cough up a clear mucas in the mornings. It is unclear if this is Glycerine etc from Vaping, or mucas from an overproduction of mucus from lung damage/COPD

  • The tar leaving my lungs finally in phlegm form as a result of healing is not an issue to me.

  • The first 2 weeks, I started coughing quite a lot, and my gums started bleeding when brushing my teeth. Found out that was common when you quit smoking. Dry skin, dry throat, pimples appearing (despite my age). All negative side effects have vanished within 2-3 weeks.

  • My general health has improved massively, I get very few cold viruses now. I cycle to work and back every day. I have lost weight, It has been one of the most positive things I have ever done health wise.

WHERE are the dangerous side effects the experts claim? The propaganda and misinformation efforts worldwide is ASTOUNDING from people and organizations who are AGAINST tobacco. I’ll type that again. The people below are against smoking. Tobacco.

You’d think the expert would be correct, done research and giving the BEST advice for anything they’re claiming expertise IN.

I digress. They’re not experts. Vapers are. WE who USE these devices KNOW what we experience.

Before we journey into the abyss of misinformation by these “experts” in health, medicine, tobacco control and idiocy in “journalism”…

Pounding Sand – Guest blog by

@Vapingit with Commentary by VMS

Kevin and I got to talking a couple days ago and we came up with this crazy confusing idea because we were both thinking about blogging on pretty much the same things. Instead of us both blogging on our respective sites, I asked Kevin if he’d like to do a dual blog post with me. He writes his initial blog and I respond with my 2 cents. You end up with 2 small time advocates views and opinions on pretty much the same subjects, but it’s a dialogue and not just one sided. My responses will be in purple and bold.

Kevin: A couple weeks ago, there was a vaping meet in New Jersey. If you’re reading this, you probably already know there was no vaping allowed.

VMS: I am still completely baffled as to why anyone would organize an event in a state with a public vaping ban. It makes no sense whatsoever!

Kevin: I’m a non-scientific kind of guy. I had a back & forth on a thought months ago with another person I respect via email –  We, I don’t remember who “thought” of it, but we were discussing what else we could DO to benefit our cause. That conversation turned to me attending a vape meet, and one of us said – what a great place to monitor the air!

A vape meet would be the PERFECT place. Stick some monitors up on booths. Put some on the entry/exit signs. Don’t even tell anyone. Just do it, lets find out what’s in the air, good or bad. By good or bad, I mean GOOD or BAD.

VMS: I too thought this was a great idea and I still do. Just like when Dr. Farsalinos tested e-liquid for diacetyl content the results were largely NOT in our favour as a community or an industry. I still find it upsetting that this information, up until recently, has been ignored by some of our leading e-liquid manufacturers. It took Five Pawns being outed by Cloud 9 for their diacetyl and AP levels to get companies to start making a change. Why the delay when we have had clear NEGATIVE evidence that this problem existed?

Kevin: Well, with the Jersey thing this weekend, someone on a facebook group said something about the Health Department missing a great opportunity to do just that. I agreed. It went to twitter, I tagged Carl Phillips, Chief Scientific Officer at CASAA
where I was told:

cp
Well, maybe it’s me, but that seemed condescending. Again, I’m not a scientist, more of a lover of vape. I intentionally don’t want to find out it violates OSHA standards, I want to find out that it doesn’t. Come down to my level a moment.

That felt at a first GlANTZ that I was being told to pound sand – aaand I digress. I played stupid, but don’t understand.

cp2

But there’s this, *Carl from you in June *I’m a huge fan!) :
http://antithrlies.com/2015/06/03/notes-from-the-fda-e-cigarette-workshop/

VMS: Carl is a difficult one. The limited communication I have had with him through twitter has always been swift and to the point. At times, it felt harsh. I’m not sure if this is just down to it being social media and an inability to convey emotion through 140 characters or just the way it comes across. No matter, really. Carl is a great asset to the cause.

Back to Farsalinos diacetyl study. I am prepared to accept negative results. Results that can create a positive change. If we find out that the air quality at large events like this is really bad for us, then that only serves for us to improve the way we conduct these events. If we are going to keep claiming that our vaper in small quantity is harmless to bystanders and ourselves, then we should know what it is doing to us and bystanders on a larger scale.

Kevin: On Facebook, it was handled a bit differently.

cp3

Kevin: For better or worse, why HASN’T it been done? Why NOT? I’m still, even after the few paragraphs you’ve read, not a scientist. Let say out in Sunny California, there was, or will be a meet. Someone REALLY wants to do this on the anti-vaping side of our lives. THEY get the information and plaster it all over the news on the worst possible outcomes. Yes… and we’re sitting ducks. Trying to chase the truth down between their propaganda and lies like the old familiar formaldehyde stupidity.

VMS: So maybe an air test at a vape meet isn’t a great idea but a large indoor air study IS. Let’s encourage companies to put money towards a controlled large scale indoor air study then? We see how quick some of them are to support campaigns like #NotBlowingSmoke, so maybe we can get them to support some more research too? My biggest concern is that someone like Glantz who has the money available to him, will get this done before WE do. We all know how people like him would spin the data and the nano-particles. Why can’t we be on the offensive for once in this game?

Kevin: How the valuable resources were attained to debunk the formaldehyde scare are beyond me. Time and money. So, it leads ME to believe we should proactively take any sensible suggestion – *I thought it was a sensible thought* – and go with it to have it in OUR hands. Both for the vaper and anyone else.  Proactively. That’s my thought.

This study found on Vape About It concludes:
“…new study published in the Dec. 2014 issue of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology found conclusive data that the vapor emitted from e-cigs and personal vapor devices is non-toxic. In other words, vaping is safe.”

They do this at ice rinks.
They do this at indoor motor-cross events.

Among other things, if it is already deemed “safe” and the second/third hand studies were also debunked, why NOT go all out at a vape meet, or at least a good Saturday afternoon at a large scale Brick & Mortar? Why NOT?

VMS: I don’t see a good enough reason why not. “Handing the ANTZ” ammunition isn’t a good enough excuse anymore. If we don’t tackle and combat it before they do, then they surely have all the ammunition they need. “They had the opportunity to test it, but all they care about is getting you addicted to nicotine and not about the safety of the product.” We already have this fight on our hands. It doesn’t matter what move we make as long as we are always on the defensive. I have the utmost respect for Carl and Greg both, but I simply don’t agree with burying our heads in the sand. As a vaper and a consumer that supports AVA and CASAA, I was disappointed by both of their responses, but can also understand where they are coming from. I do think that this is something that needs further discussion by the “heads” of our community though and should not be ignored or passed off as being another silly idea.

Kevin: It probably has been done and there was no conclusive evidence to it being “bad”… or they’d have pounded us with it, or it really hasn’t been done to a “vape meet arena scale”.

SO, why NOT? Well, if arenas are too big why not do it at a weekend full vape shop. Lets put it to the test. Lets FIND out what is in it. Anyone reading this who’s in the environmental field got an idea as to how?

So, what are we hiding? If it hasn’t been done by us, shame on us. If it’s been done by “Glantz” or some other anti, they’d be ALL over it if it were bad. Just like the “aiming at children” packaging, nobody wants to bring THAT up until recently. Sadly, it’s been being brought up for some time. Why not get ahead of it? Why WAIT until we’re sideswiped by a big ANTZ truck full of what they WANT to tell us. If we’re not LEADING this industry in research, we’re all pounding sand.

VMS: Again, I have to agree here. We need to be on the ball and get on the offensive. No data is bad data, bad data is bad data, but GOOD data even if it has BAD results, can be improved upon. Also, to be fair, I don’t think the community is really hiding anything, I think some of us are just more reluctant in wanting to KNOW. Does that make sense?

Kevin: I do “what I can” to support and advocate. Sometimes I’m spot on, sometimes I’m out of line.
I DO what I can. I don’t like waiting, I like action. I don’t like being told to shut up. I don’t like being told “don’t talk about that”. I don’t like being suppressed. This is TOO frigging important.

VMS: I had an entire blog written up and dedicated to this subject. The “little advocates” compared to the big advocates. I haven’t published it yet because it’s mostly me getting really frustrated and angry.

Lately though, I have seen too many “that’s silly” “we can’t do that” “don’t do that” “been there done that it didn’t work” “why didn’t you run this past me first” and the one I hate the most, “let us deal with it”.

I have watched every day people, those working as a cashier or a stay at home mom, who want to get involved in advocacy, who are trying their best with what little they know, get told they’re basically a nuisance, that they’re in the way, and incapable of coming up with any good ideas that support the cause.

This treatment of the “little advocates” is unacceptable in my opinion. Us little people with tiny voices and a lack of experience put a lot of these people on point as our front men & women and those people accepted that responsibility. With that responsibility should come the decency to treat us “little advocates” with patience and respect. If we don’t deserve that at the very least…

Know what I think? Screw them. No one in this industry, any company or another advocate tells me what I can and can’t do and none of you should let them tell you either. Suggestions are great, advice is amazing, but if they shoot you down and make you feel like a fool, fuck them. Find someone/something else to put your support in and don’t let it defeat your purpose!

If your message is STRONG, if it can be backed up by evidence and you are prepared to defend your message, then go for it! Either people will pay attention or they won’t. Do NOT let anyone in this community tell you that your THOUGHTS or IDEAS or EFFORTS to protect this product are ‘not good enough”.

fight

Kevin: I will do what Dr. Farsalinos said above, at any cost, including questioning integrity.

VMS: In the last 6 months I have watched many people change their stance on what to fight and what not to fight. 3 months ago, letting companies know that we thought their kid friendly logos were bad, was a GOOD idea and was ENCOURAGED. Now? It’s “who cares?” “this is an adult product being sold to adults in an adult store.” Funny that because 3 months ago that’s not what I was hearing. Reminder, the ANTZ are still attacking child friendly branding, it is still a problem and it is one that our community CAN CHANGE. Put your money where your mouth is. Tell these companies you don’t like their branding, why you don’t approve of it, and then endeavor to buy products from other companies who clearly care about protecting this product.

It’s the same thing with the Diacetyl and AP issues. Here in the UK and Canada, measures were taken to remove products from sale that contained levels that were deemed unsafe, yet the US has kind of just ignored it.  This is another incident where I read that we should just be quiet about it and let other people deal with it in in private and away from the public. Erm. No.

If a company is playing Russian Roulette with my health, I am not going to sit here and let them get away with it while I’m told to shut up and let other more experienced people deal with it…behind closed doors where we (the public) have no idea what’s being done to correct theses issues! Uh uh. Not happening. Same as above, tell a company you don’t like their test results and move to a brand that has results YOU are happy with.

Kevin: I also believe this:

speak

VMS: One voice may be small and quiet, but when we put all our voices together, we become loud and thunderous.

Has your Doctor noticed you’re educating THEM?

heart

You PROUDLY tell your Doctor, Medical – Health Professional:

“I quit smoking” with e-cigs”!

The success in not smoking is profound in a smoker turned non-smoker’s mind.

It is a personal VICTORY.

It is one accomplishment some thought and were convinced

they never would attain.

I “met” Ray online at the end of last year. He is a self-admitted “old crank”. I love old cranks.

Please see Ray’s story here.

Some in this survey are 40 – 50 year smokers.

The pride in telling your health professional the many things is a great feeling.

Some would like to continue the misleading statements & rhetoric of the old school stupidity.

Many motives for doing so.

Some in the public health arena would like to consider e-cigarettes the same as smoking. They would rather you still feel defeated –

NOW condemning you for doing what they’ve told you to DO all along.

Some are simply irresponsible. Dr. Gounder claims she is:

doctor / internal medicine / infectious diseases / domestic & global public health / medical journalism

on her Twitter Profile.

I say she’s other things. One of those start with Lazy.

I presume she just can’t find research on the internet. Huh.

A “professional”. Stating “medical journalism” is like me saying I’m a Doctor, I suppose.

I must have the credentials by now!

Make a NOTE to yourself as you see the graphic below –  these are statements unfounded, and just believed or contrived by ANOTHER person.

Not their “own” thoughts. Clickbait.

Does Dr. Gounder, have HER own research? Imagine? “Because someone else says so, it must be true”.

gounder

We know they are not. Imagine the irresponsibility of Dr. Gounder in HER statements.

She’s not the only one.

Question 28: Has your Doctor/Health Care provider noticed and/or noted these changes in your medical records since using an e-cigarette

My doctor is very positive to gaping even though she has never smoked or tried it herself. Today, 5:47AM
Doctor commented that it had been a long time since she’d seen me. I told her I felt a LOT better all of the time since I’d switched to an e-cigarette. She congratulated me and encouraged me to stay smoke-free.
My dentist said ” wow you quite smoking” before I had a chance to explain how.
I’m a guy. I don’t go to doctors unless dying
My Doctor has encouraged me to stick to the e-cigarettes as an alternative to smoking.
Really see doctor so not aware but dentist and hygienist both very positively in favour of ecigs
Have actually helped educate my doctor on ecigarettes and vaping.
My lung capacity has increased
my dr did not encourage it but does now
Im from canada. It does work that way here.
After a year and a half observing the changes in me, my doctor has opened up and truly listened to what I could tell him about the benefits of vaping to quit smoking.
My family doctor said it was a great way to get away from smoking
recently had surgery due to a fracture – not all Canadians can walk on water (ice). The surgeon viewed it as quitting smoking. I recently found a new family doctor who has her doubts.
My Doctor / Health Care provider encouraged it. & I am listed as a non-smoker on my health insurance as well.
I have not had a reason to see a Dr since switching to ecigs.I haven’t even had so much as a chest cold in over 2yrs since switchinng to ecigs.
My A1C went down, my blood pressure went down, I feel 100% better in just seven months.
At my last visit I was one year smoke free, doctor congratulated me. When I told him the only way I could finally quit was using vapor products, he stated I should consider quitting them as well. I am looking for a new doctor now!
Lungs cleared
All the reasons my doctor gave me to quit smoking are fixed, but he still suggests my vape will cause worse damage.
The cardiovascular specialist was the one that encouraged it – he was absolutely delighted the last time I saw him and told him I was switching. For him, it was the carbon monoxide from smoking that was the primary culprit and risk factor in my PVD. The internist not so much, but the dramatic change in my health since 2008 and my total lack of need for acute visits since then speak for themselves.
Insurance counts me a a tobacco user to get a surcharge added.
I don’t go to the doctor often.
I told my doctor but I do not know if I am listed as a non-smoker.
I am no longer a “smoker”!!

Doctor considers me a former smoker, just as she would if I were using nicotine gum or patches.

My long time doctor has noticed switching in blood tests. She says she cannot advocate the use of e-cigs but also says I should not go back to smoking what I smoked before. She works for a private health company tho and she has to follow company policy – she has implied to me in many ways that the absence of pack-a-day smoking is doing wonders, regardless of the substitute.
Seldom see doctor, get impression he/she wouldn’t be interested. Asthma nurse very impressed said “Whatever you’re doing keep on doing it” Listed me as ex-smoker.

I told my doctor that I vape and he said “but you’re not smoking, right” I said “no” and he said “that’s good”

Only been vaping exclusively 5 months and no scheduled appt’s yet
My Doctor considers me a non smoker and has changed his attitude toward ecigarettes since he has seen the physical proof. I have been using a cpap machine for over 3 years; my sleep therapy consultant has recorded a reduction in my dependence on my machine.
my dentist noticed a difference
My life assurance company class me as a non smoker now
My health teast were better. Alot better
Dr asked when I gave up, (at the time I last saw him,) and I said 3 years ago, but that I still use ecigs. He put me down as a non-smoker. 🙂

I also have a friend that had a heart attack that was a heavy smoker! His doctor told him to quit tobacco that day and if he wanted nicotine then he needed to start vaping! Or quit all together! He vapes and his doctor says his heart is doing well!

My doctor is amazed that I was able to quit and to stay off of cigarettes, but still isn’t so sure that e-cigarettes are OK.

Astounding information.

Shame, Guilt, Fear, Pressure & Refusal. The Former Smoker.

troll

Was there a reason for you to stop tobacco use?

I’ve asked you that very question. Interestingly enough, you’ve answered! Health  reasons and MANY other answers to stop tobacco use from family members having cancer to having children come up.

For this blog specifically, I’ve chosen the ones I felt expressed guilt, shame, pressure or “refusal” to stop tobacco use.

REFUSAL.

You’ll see that shortly. These are YOUR voices. Your comments.

Keep in mind, we’re vaping. We’ve stopped smoking- for the most part – stopped tobacco use, and the Governments, Public Health & more are all on the boat to criticizing us for NOT smoking.

Imagine how they’re trying to shame, guilt and pressure us AGAIN

for something that is NOT smoking.

I’m doing my best – with your help, to not let that happen.

Was there a reason for you to stop tobacco use?

I’m going to let these answers speak for themselves.

guilt

Unedited as you left them, so far – over 2,000 of you from 47 countries around the world are speaking out again.

I’ve chosen but a few comments left on the survey so far.

Needed to stop “stinking”, my selfesteem got too low, withdrew from social settings

was even refused medical treatments while smoking

First time family asked was a bad experience said I would never do it again. Second, girl friend at the time, now she’s my wife, dragged me kicking to a vape shop tried a few flavors in two weeks was able to buy all the stuff needed and was off cigs totally.

I cried myself to sleep MANY nights fearing I would never be able to quit smoking cigarettes

My granddaughter at age 20 months saw me smoke for the first time, March of 2015. I not to smoke inside her parents house, I always went out side. She and I were outside. I was standing 20 feet from her. I was smoking. She squished up her face that she could smell my cigarette and she said, No No, NO gamma, * oh the Shame, I put it out instantly, that I then was god I wish there was a miracle that I could quit! – it came the next month.

For me, my family pleaded with me for years to quit, my wife pleaded with me constantly to at least try to quit. Inside, after failing so many times to quit, I felt hopeless and alone. Dying by my own hand, and felt somewhat left out by the medical community at large. The condemnation by my doctor for still smoking was a sting to me.

How could nobody  understand how much I was affected by the absence of even small doses of nicotine. The rage and mental fuzziness that  I experienced from the total lack of nicotine fell on deaf, or condescending ears. Was it something inherently wrong with me? No, My brain had been forever altered when my mother smoked to term with me, and I was pre-destined for a nicotine addiction. Not my fault, and nothing morally wrong with the consequence of this. I am just one who is in need of nicotine for normal brain function. Vaping offers this to me, with the added benefit of harm reduction.

I was being shamed and guilted into trying to stop by society. I was a second class citizen as a smoker; discriminated against in a way which would be illegal if it were done to any other section of society. I was happier smoking for the perceived benefits of the habit – weighed less, less depressed, less stressed – but hassled endlessly by the anti smoking propaganda.

My children wanted me to quit so i would be around for a long time. Since quitting i am able to play with my kids without getting winded as easily.

I thought I enjoyed smoking, but knew it was not healthy and felt shame that I could not just give it up. I made quit attempts, but I wanted to smoke more than I wanted to stop.

around 1980 -kids were little and many in my peer (church) group did not smoke

I was total that surgeons will not operate on smokers, being obese doesn’t help as well.

My boyfriend and I went too a party one night and we were the ONLY smokers there; everyone else was vaping, we went into our local b&m the next day and made the switch.

i felt dirty using cigarettes.

Due to the constant persecursion of smokers and not being able to smoke anywhere.

The more nagging by government, employers workmates the more determined I was not to quit.

Those are just a FEW examples of what you’ve said. YOUR voices.

I thank you for it.

PETITIONS:

E-Cigarette Petitions

I, with hundreds – thousands actually – of others – tweet my ass of at politicians. “Experts”. Doctors. The CDC. Directors of organizations. Tie wearing wanna be scientists who are actually journalists. Tobacco control “experts” with sociology and mechanical degrees, upset that they aren’t real doctors or scientists, so far out of their domain in the e-cig/vaping world, they think there’s smoke in vaping. Doctors with NO clue as to what they’re saying. Going on the latest “study”. Nothing of their own. They spout others studies falsely attaining a hundred retweets to gain only popularity in the latest lie. Sometimes proper engagement is called for, sometimes I go all 10 year old on ’em.

Then there’s the others. MUCH smarter than I am. I admire so many. They keep ME in check at times.

Friends On Twitter.

Then there are Vendors. Of those 4,000 or so on my list I’d venture to say there are thousands.

Broony, down under…

posed this question.

broony

I don’t either. I don’t understand…..

I tweeted this petition yesterday – not only to get the word out – but to “see” if vendors would retweet it.

PETITIONS:

E-Cigarette Petitions

Sadly I was disappointed.

tweet2

I won’t say ALL vendors were online yesterday morning. I won’t say EVERY vendor on my list following me saw this tweet.

I will say NO vendor, reviewer or brick & mortar retweeted this tweet with complete confidence.

YOU HAVE THE AUDIENCE!!! USE THAT!

z

z1

What do you want, Kevin? Retweets?

Um, nope. You can copy it, tweet it as if it were your own for all I care. SOME of you DO.

Another one caught my eye as they will.

I try very hard not to promote vendors. Not that I don’t want to, it’s that there are SO many of you – who would I pick?

I have not used ONE vendor product/eliquid on my list, but I know I’ve heard good things about a few of them via other tweets, other people I follow & some reviewers.

I understand to SOME extent you, as a vendor – brick & mortar –  have an image to uphold. I get it.

I also get that if you don’t become involved, you’re in jeopardy of losing it all.

“It can’t happen to me”.

If you don’t “lose it all”, you’ll just pass on the cost to the customer, right? Go ahead, you didn’t educate your customers, and can pass it off like you didn’t know…..It’s YOUR BUSINESS to KNOW.

Explain a SEVENTY PERCENT SALES TAX to your customer.

Links to Trade Organizations are at the top left of this blog-

and if I typed correctly  – they’re on the right as well->>>>

Well, “there were legal battles, I did what I could and now I’m struggling to stay in business”.

Think about that statement before you have to say it. “It can’t happen to me”.

Am I wrong? Will people go to online sales and forget about you?

online

Did you forget why you are doing what you do? Helping people. Doing what you love. Making money in the process.

Am I right? Who cares, it’s not about right or wrong at this point……….I digress.

510ego.com is one example of a vendor who is actively engagingwell enough I’d take the time to screen shot it and point it out in my silly little blog.

I’ll point out & can’t point out enough that some of you do. There ARE other vendors/reviewers and brick/mortars who advocate as well, (you know who you are). If the shoe fits. 510ego.com DOES engage.

tweet3

Continues to do so.

PETITIONS:

E-Cigarette Petitions

More importantly, you know if you DON’T. The vendors who will be pissed off at this blog. That’s who.

If you don’t have links to calls to action, don’t think of tweets on your own or retweet imperative information, you’re not a member of a trade group, if you’re not actively involved in showing your customers there are organizations actively seeking to regulate, tax, restrict & ban across the world,

Restrictions, Bans, Laws. Page One.

Restrictions, Bans, Laws. Page TWO.

You can kindly and unceremoniously unfollow me.

Really. Kiss my vaping ass.

I’d rather you didn’t, I’d rather work together and inspire each other. Your choice.

If you’re running an actual business, you know – with paying taxes & licensed in your state, consider

Focusing on a customer who has interest in your product to stop smoking.

Keeping that customer. The opportunity to educate that customer is in your hands.

Joining a trade group. Tell customers about associations. TELL them what is going on.

Here’s an example of who we’re fighting for.

She Walked In To A Vape Shop.

Keep ON #Vaping On.

Kevin

E-cigarettes Are Safer Than Cigarettes.

whichproductissafer

The debate continues over the safety of e-cigarettes. Experts in every field of medicine are scrambling to be sure their followers understand the issues. They quote studies from three years ago with confidence & pride. They, after all, are “experts”. For example, the latest expert…. (where do they COME from?)

Dr. Celine Gounder

who shows her credentials as

“doctor / internal medicine / infectious diseases / domestic & global public health / medical journalism”

Ummm…. Doc… there is the ability to capitalize words on Twitter. Honest, Mrs. “Medical Journalism”. It might make you look more “professional”.

I scratch my head every time I see tweets from a doctor with that many “specialties”.

Now – before we go any further, I tweeted the following survey to MANY “Experts” including Simon Chapman – (I miss him) Stanton Glantz – (busy playing Doctor) and others like the Lung Association. Dr. Tom Frieden himself was the FIRST to be invited to take it, and this includes many others including Dr. Gounder.

They among others can’t say they didn’t have the chance to take it and speak up. So…

Only if you ARE IN the Health care, Medical, Tobacco Control fields, please take this survey:

Health Care Professionals And E-Cigarettes Survey It’s NOT over yet!

Back to our regularly scheduled silliness:

So, Dr. Gounder. Internal Medicine. Ok. Infectious Diseases. I’m with you so far. Domestic & Global Public Health. Ummm what? That’s new. Finally, the “Medical Journalism” made me chuckle a bit – I AM easily amused –  because instead of linking something she wrote, she links fluff.

gounderAlong with linking fluff, there is no mention of one very specific site. Here it comes, that pesky tell all website no “expert” will tweet or refer to in any capacity: http://www.ecigarette-research.org

Now, if I WERE a Doctor, and I tweeted something – and anyone said, hey listen  – there is THIS site, there are LOTS of science & research on – I’d at least LOOK at it.

I wouldn’t dismiss it. I’d check it out, see what was there, make a decision from that and tweet back – something like – “Hey – checked that site, would love to learn more, didn’t know it existed”. But wait, there’s more. There are Doctors who are absolutely IN FAVOR of e-cigarettes as opposed to smoking. They are at sciencecig.wordpress.com/

Now, if I were a doctor AND a Medical Journalist, I’d be absolutely drooling all over myself to find information no one else has recognized – and if I didn’t “like” what I saw, I could go on about my merry way, saying e-cigarettes were bad explain or try to explain WHY =

I’ve done studies myself, blah, blah, blah. Dr. Gounder, shame on you. Tisk, tisk.

You obviously want people to smoke.

I linked the ASH Study.

Action on Smoking and Health: http://www.ash.org.uk/files/documents/ASH_891.pdf

I linked ecigarette-research.org. I linked M.O.V.E.

I can show you over 7,000 worldwide who don’t feel the same way. You are irresponsible and obviously are part of the Public Health Officials PREFER YOU TO SMOKE I’ve written about. Children? That theory is here.

Twitter is full of people MUCH smarter than I am, with common sense. Doctors I follow graciously would take a phone call or an email – link truth to you, there are organizations to seek – I can’t imagine why I would have to tell you this – your alleged “expertise” in “Medical Journalism” ALONE should be enough to get you through twitter without being confused about the difference between cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

You must need or enjoy attention or need ratings somewhere.

Funny thing about your website saying

“Changing the way people think about health” right at the top.

I, Doctor, have been smoke free for just over two years. I’m not exceptional. I’m not special. I’m just a guy doing something MUCH safer than smoking. I don’t smoke. I have had tweet sessions with Doctor Kevin Campbell about “dangers” here:  Nicotine Reduction Therapy, What’s Really Safe?.

dadandi

Please get some education, speak to some of these people. Learn. Be part of the solution instead to take people OFF off tobacco at their choosing. It’s about lives.  My bet is that you’re vain enough to have read this far. I implore you to seek knowledge. I learn EVERY day. I’d hope you’d care enough to do the same instead of tweeting to people scaring them away.

So the survey “Which Product Is Worse” was put out on Twitter. Anyone could have taken it. It was out February 8th, ended last week.

ANYONE could take it. E-cigarettes didn’t get ONE vote. I spelled out Electronic Cigarettes. I had the choices come up randomly. Here’s what the world said.

whichproductisworse

In reality, only 127 took the poll but it was from 14 countries.

The other one, Which Product Is Safer? Again – let go earlier this year – just ended and ANYONE could take it – with 752 people and 29 countries:
