VapesGiving Event Aims to Raise Huge Funding Goals to help Advocacy

Instead of focusing on what “can’t” be done, consider what CAN be done. Considering what is at stake, there is NO reason #VapesGiving can’t raise millions with this movement. This is beyond overdue.

Companies, including manufacturers, are joining with multiple advocacy groups to raise what should be nothing short of millions to attain results at any and all levels.

If you are IN business and not doing “anything”, I implore you to assess this and make some noise by making a difference. If you are already, I thank you.

Feds Owe the Public ‘Corrective Statements’ on Vaping

The verdict is in if you’re in the United States, you’re seeing tobacco companies court-ordered advertising on television for the 1st time since the 70’s. Sally Satel & Guy Bentley explain why the Feds owe the public the same courtesy.

While they mention the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Surgeon General, I can come up with a list of defendants in other parts of this blog upon request.

Long-term vaping causes no negative health results [new study]

Last week, I inadvertantly skipped this article by Jim McDonald.

“They found that the vapers had no negative health outcomes, and in fact showed results that were virtually indistinguishable from those of the non-vapers.”

Indistinguishable. This study extinguishes concerns, certainly, as to a smoker switching or dual using, and the very few and hard to find, who may take up vaping as opposed to smoking.

Advertising tobacco on television. Again.

I don’t consider this news, honestly. An eleven year “fight” (not sure of tobacco controls dollar figure spent off hand) to get FORCE tobacco companies to put on television what they’ve already put on the side of their packs.

FDA & Fear

Fear is the business they’re in.

“The Food and Drug Administration is now on the wrong side of a new anti-vaping campaign. Instead of helping teens reject using tobacco or e-cigarettes, the new FDA plan would end up discouraging people from quitting cigarette smoking — an outcome no one wants.”

The FDA’s Mitch Zeller & Dr. Scott Gottlieb have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine. It’s not a medical study, it’s a letter.

Health aspects of e-cigarettes – Short information for physicians

dr

Dr. Mayer has released this statement informing physicians about the health aspects of e-cigarettes.

“Plasma levels of toxic substances…substantially decrease” and are “identical to the levels of non-smokers…”

“From a medical point of view, individuals who switched from smoking to the consumption of e-cigarettes have to be classified as non-smokers.”

To reduce the risks of smoking, physicians need proper information to rely on and relay to their patients. E-cigarettes are another way to reduce or eliminate smoking.

The worldwide claim of professionals “not knowing” the risks of e-cigarettes has come to a close.

There’s no reason for physicians to dismiss e-cigarettes or less harm to patients.

Doctors tell smokers: Switch to e-cigs

doctors2

With more than 560 physicians surveyed, over 70% “indicated that e-cigs can help patients reduce or eliminate smoking” and “almost half believe they can reduce risk” according to a new survey by Andrew Nickels, M.D. called “Majority of US doctors discussing electronic cigarettes with their patients”.

Patients in the United States have been inundated with bias information and opinions by health officials with false or manipulated data. Physicians MUST take an active role to understand the difference between combustible tobacco and e-cigs to advise their patients correctly.

This is not the first survey to ask professionals what they thought about vaping products. Participation was significantly lower in a survey I conducted with 84 professionals – but the consensus was very similar.

  • 85% said they are safer than combustible cigarettes.
  • 77% will tell patients an e-cigarette is an option.
  • 63% would definitely recommend e-cigarettes
  • 17% are cautious
  • 6% would never recommend e-cigarettes.

If you’re interested, that survey is here

Fail, Fail Again: The stop smoking motto:

bible

Organizations that are representing themselves as “stop smoking” services all say the same thing. “Keep trying“.

Physicians are well aware of failure rates as high as 93% with nicotine patch and gums, and multiple risks are involved for patients with prescriptions like the once “black-boxed” (now irresponsibly removed) Chantix and other medications.

Now it seems they are listening to successes of some patients and passing on the knowledge they gain, “anecdotal” or not, to others.

Success isn’t hard to find

success

Success is glaringly obvious in surveys of vapers where “79% had completely quit smoking cigarettes” (here)  and 42% stopped in one day – 75% stopped within a month  here.

What about addiction to nicotine?

nicotine

All health organizations falsely portray “nicotine” as “addictive”, a worn out and common “misdiagnosis” from folks who should know better, and is rarely questioned.

Pharmaceutical companies certainly are an ambitious lot – they created the “nicotine is addictive” myth out of thin air along with anti-smoking zealots to sell products. Stanton Glantz supports the pharmaceutical companies and makes things up as he goes along, and gets paid to do so.

Without tobacco and the accompanying MAOI’s and ingredients added to cigarettes, nicotine itself is not addictive, in humans, without it.

If the data contradict the theory, throw out the data

Public health organizations and government sing the same song:

The global public health establishment now dances to the tunes the pharmaceuticals play:
  1. Increase tobacco taxes to make the price of the pharmaceutical products more competitive with tobacco products.
  2. Demonize the tobacco industry and prohibit the advertising of their products.
  3. Enact smoking bans to force smokers either to attempt to give up smoking using the pharmaceuticals’ products or to use “nicotine replacement” products as substitutes for when they cannot smoke.
  4. Promote smoking cessation and “treatment” for nicotine addiction.
  5. Promote full coverage for treatment of nicotine addiction by public and private health insurers.
All these strategies are guaranteed to increase the pharmaceuticals’ profits.

That and much more can be found in “Big Drug’s Nicotine War” By Wanda Hamilton

I haven’t been shut up yet. I am looking forward to it.

What is long term?

At this point, professionals in the U.S. who claim they “do not know enough” or don’t know the “long term effects” are unacceptable and unprofessional.

What is your definition of a long-term study?

We know long term

research2

Dr. Cranfield explains the health effects of users over three years.

Users showed a 96% reduction in adverse health problems by users of three or more years. Conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure and asthma improved by 61.8%

Conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure and asthma improved by 61.8% of those diagnosed with those health issues while they smoked.

His study is here:

Health Effects and Demographics of Electronic E-cigarette Users. A Comparison Health Events in Previous Smokers with Three or More Years of Electronic E-cigarette Experience

Are there risks involved?

doctors4

Yes. Of course there are. Nothing is risk-free. In comparison to combustible tobacco, e-cigarettes are about MUCH less risk. MUCH less harm.

Leading the world to less harm in the case of e-cigarettes, less risk, is Cardiologist Konstantinos E Farsalinos

He has plenty of studies here.

He talks about them on his blog here:

Ecigarette-Research.Org

Implications of manipulation

manipulation.jpg

What are implications to withholding information from those who need it?

There’s no reason to ignore e-cigarettes, or less harm, to patients (or the public). When science and facts are ignored, people will still take advice to use the patch, gum and other “traditional” methods. When those methods fail, they will still use combustible tobacco. They will continue to smoke – because facts about e-cigarettes were ignored.

Withholding differential risk information on legal consumer nicotine/tobacco products: The public health ethics of health information quarantines

THIS

is what is on a street from the Leicester Stop Smoking Service in Leicester, England.

sign

Leicester Stop Smoking Service:

• Ecigs don’t contain the tar and carbon monoxide that lit cigarettes do, and are therefore much safer than smoking

• There is no evidence that ecigs are encouraging people to go back to smoking, in fact the opposite is true; seeing people use ecigs seems to encourage others to consider switching to a safer alternative

That is here.

They are STILL ignoring e-cigarettes in the United States here:

And here:

Professionals DO exist

doctors

M.O.V.E. is “Medical Organizations supporting Vaping and Electronic cigarettes”.

Medical Professionals Support Vaping And Electronic Cigarettes:

Denial of scientific evidence is unethical, wrong for public health.

The organization states:

“the use of electronic cigarettes clearly has huge potential to help many smokers turn their backs on tobacco.”

Focusing their attention squarely on e-cigarettes, they have a simple position on other cessation methods, stating “Unfortunately, currently available smoking cessation medications have limited efficacy and acceptability for the majority of smokers”.

(That article is here)

According to the M.O.V.E. Website:

  • It is the combustion of tobacco and the 4000 chemical substances that are produced when smoking cigarettes that are harmful to health of smokers, not the nicotine.

  • The dangers of electronic cigarettes are considerably lower than those of tobacco. From analysis of the constituents of e-cigarette vapour, e-cigarettes can be expected to be at least 95 to 99% safer than smoking tobacco cigarettes in terms of long-term health risks.

Final thoughts

The potential to reduce combustible tobacco with the use of e-cigs is being fought for, and against, and is here to stay.

The public must have the opportunity to choose a less harmful product with much lower risk and obvious benefit and hear professional views derived from research and science. They are confronting their doctors. They are trying to gain insight from who they trust.

While attitudes abroad look at research and less risk, health “organizations” in the U.S.A. are still insisting they don’t know enough. This has to stop.

Ecigs: Paradigm shift or Pavlov’s dog?

greed

Have you noticed a shift in in reporting in the United States about e-cigs? Have they completely lost their minds? No… If you start to notice it, there’s a reason. On August 8th, 2016, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) deemed nicotine as tobacco –  and took the reign over ecigs.

It’s mind-boggling how nicotine and such things as batteries being defined as tobacco products can make an expert think.

The public has suffered an onslaught of headlines, #fakenews and click-bait touting “A million more times harmful” and “formaldehyde”. A chorus of experts have sung everyone’s classic “Think Of The Children™ in tune to garner support.

Americans have been settling for less.

This change in the weather has taken a LOT of work. Health groups have been working in tandem to demonize e-cigs without fail to create the controversy, to control public opinion, to keep resistance to a bare minimum. Now it’s suppertime.

Not so long ago, e-cigs were bad. There are astounding examples and a great blog by Robert Innes about that here:

But I Am Hardly an Expert…

shift

Now, since the FDA has defined nicotine as a “tobacco product”, a paradigm shift has occurred. There must be one big-ass mass email of “ok folks, let’s roll the other way now” put out by tobacco control.

Not all, but some organizations are posting “less hateful” news. I predict more.

The government is serving pie.

*DING

pavlov

The bell has rung. They don’t care about safety, children, chemicals or your “journey” to stop smoking. Now they’re motivated. There is official drooling and control.

Please, smoke ’em if you got ’em- and now taxes of your vaping products will be sufficient.

The association with “safer” in the health world is the addiction trigger to all who, directly or indirectly operate with or, are funded by, tobacco tax –  as e-cigs become surprisingly more acceptable.

“When it’s over I predict that each camp will claim plausible deniability to the fact that it takes someone from smoking, keeps them from smoking, and keeps all involved from revenue unless it is deemed & taxed like a tobacco product.”

(Please, KEEP SMOKING! Plausible Deniability, an Incestuous Relationship.)

Get your napkins. The”taxing of nicotine” bell has rung.

You can almost hear the good intentions coming down tobacco roads.

You can almost smell fresh pie cooking. (Thanks FIG!)

Ecigs. Clarify this.

clarity

Are you confused about regulations and e-cigarettes? Are they good? Are they bad? Do you happen to be a smoker who doesn’t want to switch or hasn’t because of the confusion surrounding e-cigarettes?

Is it because you’re waiting on experts and government to clarify their position and taking 10 plus years to do it before you try one? Still In the dark?  Still confused? That’s right where they want you.

Let me run down the past few years in six short sentences.

They’re dangerous. We don’t know enough. They’re attracting children. There are chemicals. Oh, there’s nicotine-they’re tobacco. We need more research.

No, no, they’re a medical device. The government moron meter has now been pegged.

They’re looking for their piece of the pie.

Fill your tank, grab your favorite beverage. Double indemnity if you’re up for it.

Moving on.

The Food and Drug Administration have released their latest statement swirling the confusion for the public and small businesses STRUGGLING to comply with these idiotic regulations.

gif-monkey

Sorry – that’s one of the “experts” in tobacco control.

Here it is – from “The National Law Review”

FDA Finalizes New Rule “Clarifying” When a Tobacco Product is Actually a Medical Product

Determining a product’s  intended use is critical to establishing whether a product made or derived from tobacco will be regulated as a medical product .  A drug is defined in Section 321(g) of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), in pertinent part, as “articles intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease in man or other animals”

I’m no attorney, but e-cigarettes do not diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat or prevent disease. Conjecture, dear reader.

(I also haven’t seen any animals smoking lately. Yes I’ve seen the smoking monkey – or ape – you don’t need to clarify that!

“FDA further emphasized that manufacturer claims related to “smoking cessation in the context of curing or treating nicotine addiction and its symptoms” would bring a product within the disease prong of the drug or device definition.”

I’m no attorney, but I suggest the FDA CLEARLY show nicotine in the context of causing HARM or ADDICTION in humans without tobacco or MAOI’s

– then we can agree that nicotine is a “drug or device”.

I’m no attorney, but milk isn’t beef, syrup is not wood, and nicotine is not tobacco.

Again, conjecture and nicotine is NOT addictive, but saying it is, IS.

Proof by assertion, sometimes informally referred to as proof by repeated assertion, is an informal fallacy in which a proposition is repeatedly restated regardless of contradiction.] Sometimes, this may be repeated until challenges dry up, at which point it is asserted as fact due to its not being contradicted (argumentum ad nauseam). In other cases, its repetition may be cited as evidence of its truth, in a variant of the appeal to authority or appeal to belief fallacies.

From Chris Price:

Why isn’t nicotine a Schedule 1 drug?

“They” have fabricated information for ten years – so they can justify their goal to regulate, restrict, tax and ban e-cigarettes as tobacco  – or a medical device – or use them as stump to shout from until they can formulate and succeed in their new found love, a sugar tax.

While they take their time flip-flopping – the folks who WANT to switch and walk into a vape shop are afraid and confused, & small businesses may not be there for them when they do.

Still snickering about the monkey? Good.

In other observations to be confused about, I’ve noticed a – change, shall I say, with Michael Eriksen (Former DirectorCDC’s Office on Smoking and Health) and his demeanor on e-cigarettes while following him on Twitter recently, here’s what I mean.

Truth Initiative tweeted, and Eriksen obliged them;

and then, the next day he tweeted this:

and this….. on Christmas Eve:

That got my curiosity up a bit… I myself had engaged him QUITE a few times to clarify, but he didn’t have time for my question – among other snarky questions over time, here in June 2016.

With that and my child-like curiosity, I wonder about the change of heart. Did he simply change his mind like Jim McManus? Not impossible. Still – I wonder about the change in his demeanor. I noticed the whole bio on his twitter account:

Dean and Regents’ Professor, Georgia State School of Public Health. Former Director – CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health. Tobacco Atlas.

Now that caught my eye. Never noticed it before. What IS that? Not that I’d ever question authority or integrity… Oh, an org…

You may not be back.

Thanks and acknowledgements

The Tobacco Atlas – at the bottom, is sponsored by – drum roll please – the World Lung Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

See for yourself what the American Cancer Society (almost to the end) says about e-cigarettes.

I couldn’t find anything on the World Lung Foundation – their site was down at the time of this blog, but On Wikipedia:

The World Lung Foundation applauded the 2014 WHO report’s recommendation for tighter regulation of e-cigarettes due to concerns about the safety of e-cigarettes and the possible increased nicotine or tobacco addiction among youth.

But did remember and find this from Guy Bentley & the Daily Caller.

Where are the “powers that be” going with e-cigarettes in the United States?

In Public Health We Trust

responsibility6trust

In Public Health We Trust.

Public health. They’re in a position of authority, they’ve earned their degree. They’ve read “everything there is” to know about -it- they’ve graciously given you forced their “findings” of their opinion and that’s final. YOU are not to question their facts. In fact, they don’t like colleagues questioning them. How dare you pretend to know more?

Don’t you trust them? How dare you bark at the hierarchies heralded by their own set of elite standards? Peer reviewed, in most cases! Are you *peon* questioning the integrity and arrogance of public health, when you know damn good & well they’re just looking out for YOU? You’ve got a lot of nerve.

“There’s a pill for that”.

responsibility1

Responsibility

If you can’t find your “less harm” calculator, that’s not my problem, got it? If arrogance supersedes your rational thoughts, and your “training” as a anti-tobacco or tobacco control “expert” cult member keeps you warm and educated, do consider finding your degree & a shredder.

If you’re NOT convinced or intellectually challenged, go here.

YOUR responsibility is to report facts. Picking only the facts you like in most instances ~ isn’t responsibility. The whole truth. E-cigarettes are about a choice, by individuals, to do less harm. We are individuals who aren’t afraid to question (or educate) you, or the paper you wrote on. If you’re one who likes to flash your credentials & experience…Please.

Not impressed. I know, new territory for you, but suck it up.

Credibility

I’ll just leave this here:

Definition of credibility (Merriam-Webster)

  1. 1:  the quality or power of inspiring belief <an account lacking in credibility>

Don’t stare at that too long, you may convince yourself of that quality, power or that you have
“been inspiring…”

responsibility3

Accountability

Definition of accountability (Merriam-Webster)

  1. :  the quality or state of being accountable; especially :  an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions <public officials lacking accountability>

THIS is where I get pretty pissed off. To have accountability, you must be willing to accept responsibility – and that’s where the line gets tangled in the weeds.

You KNOW – basking in your own glory –  nicotine replacement therapies are a product of the pharmaceutical companies biggest imaginations, marketed to the masses.

nicotine-addicts-drug-wars

You KNOW success rates of “nicotine replacement therapies” are a measly 3-7%–  yet you’ll encourage a 93% FAILURE rate without a second thought.

nicotine rates.jpg

Don’t be coy, you also – because you’re an expert, KNOW without tobacco, without MAOI’s (I had to learn what “maoi’s” are – look it up)  nicotine is not addictive.

nicotine-is-not-addictive-no-arrows

And of COURSE, being the expert you “ARE”with all due respect, you KNOW that

DHHS funded Moffitt Cancer Center survey found 79% of vapers quit smoking, BUT

but…. You’ll sit silently instead, knowing all that, and still puff out your chest saying “e-cigarettes” are “________” and think you’re “right” ?

I’m on your trail. I’m stepping on your tails.

responsibility8power

The silence is deafening.

Idiom:

deafening silence

A silence or lack of response that reveals something significant, such as disapproval or a lack of enthusiasm

Can you hear it? Silence from those who are trusted in the world of “health” is deafening for vaping products. The arena in which the game is played is deliberately intricate and there is no level playing field. Please keep smoking

anti

I don’t know about you (yes I do), but I don’t like being wrong. I also don’t mind being corrected when I’m wrong – or misinformed myself. It happens. When you’re going to stomp your precious opinion into the world – you’re bound to find opposition  – or at minimum, a different point of view. I didn’t say “better”, I said different.

Get off your high horse unicorn, set your silver dollar down on the table and show your hand… earn some respect. LISTEN. You want to be trusted, you want the credibility, earn it.

Are there exceptions to this in the public health arena? Absolutely.

Are there far more who have no shame? I can name names. But that’s not why you’re here.

responsibility2

Clearly to protect your reputation, there must be a filter. Clean that. Clearly I don’t have the time nor do I have the responsibility to make you happy. I have a full time job. I do not get paid by the “e-cigarette industry”. I am not “big tobacco”. I am, however, a consumer – looking out for other consumers. I (we) are looking for THE worst scenario in EVERY, and I mean e v e r y single post, article, opinion and published thought there IS, scientific or otherwise. Globally, mind you.

You could choose to lose the credibility & trust you’ve worked so hard to obtain and maintain all these years – but I’m going to let you demonstrate your knowledge (or lack thereof) by looking things up,  having a bit of class and standing up for yourselves and more importantly, the public. To recap, I’m questioning your lack of responsibility, silence, authority, credibility, accountability and simply do not trust you.

Withholding differential risk information on legal consumer nicotine/tobacco products: The public health ethics of health information quarantines

I’m here for you. Many are. Ask questions. There are organizations you could call, email, check. Science you can find. It’s all to the left & right of your screen on this blog. If it’s NOT in here, I’ll GLADLY find it for you.

You’ve run out of excuses, you’ve run out of what-if’s, might’s, maybe’s and….

You honestly can’t use the children without sounding like a – well – public health parrot.

Government strategies threaten smokers and public health

newsglasses

Many smokers are choosing to change their habits, and it’s no surprise the tobacco control and public health “experts” are gloating with the lowest rates in history. In fact, this gives accolades to President Obama, while he was allegedly sneaking a smoke and chewing his nicotine cud for “his role” in reducing tobacco consumption.

There are “atta-boys”, awards & slapping each other on the back in public, while long standing strategies have been in place to keep people smoking in the name of recurring revenue.

Royalties for a job “well done“.

I assume I should be inclined to be impressed with all the good work anti-nicotine tobacco zealots (ANTZ) claim to be “doing” to promote less harm in the United States. I’m not. Not that the proverbial statement of “less harm” would be easy to find, but I digress.

The exaggerations were, after all, out of and promoted by control.

Money over health

The U.S. economy can’t have funding from smokers drop to a mere 15% and continue navigating control of tobacco funds.

“Because tobacco is a lucrative and heavily taxed product, governments that both regulate tobacco and require tax revenue will always be ambivalent in their attitudes toward tobacco consumption and cessation.” from this:

The Master Settlement Agreement and Its Impact on Tobacco Use 10 Years Later

Show me the money

The cash in the well is dwindling, the bucket shows signs of dry rot. That simply can not happen, too much is at stake. WHAT are they to do? Quickly demonize vaping products like they’ve done with cigarettes for years.

What else cold they do? Define the chemical nicotine as tobacco and scurry along by regulating e-cigarettes “like tobacco” to keep their cash crop. Counterproductive ingenuity, eh? That’s a win/win and it keeps investors happy.

It’s almost as if the “goal” of tobacco control has a vested interest to both ridicule and tax the smoker who’s willing to pay just enough to keep them smoking, and force the “poor” into submission to use “approved” yet ineffective profitable alternatives rather than less harmful solutions.

Body Parts

In the United States, the *body part associations (- thank you *David Goerlitz) including the Heart, Lung & Cancer associations and Tobacco Free Kids continue a crusade with the government agencies like the FDA, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to keep the public smoking…  while using the illusion of protecting the children (and adults) to keep them from smoking.

Now there is a movement to raise the age of tobacco (and vaping products) purchases to 21. That’s ironic, since laws are well in place to keep children from lawfully purchasing these items, their efforts admittedly haven’t worked according to them.

Less Harm

With unlawful, rampant corruption and manipulation by the likes of the Food and Drug Administration, you can’t expect truth. Talk of a strategic tobacco “end-game” while using smokers as pawns and a punchline. You think by now there would be ONE organization in the United States to stand out from the crowd FOR the public and say “wait a minute, e-cigarettes are less harmful and must be included in our ‘arsenal’ to reduce tobacco use.”

They’ve been hiding things from you.

This, from Brad Rodu, is one example.

FDA Tobacco Director Ignores 2.5 Million “Anecdotal Reports” About E-cigarettes

Here is another:

Why is the FDA dragging its feet on admitting snus is safer than smoking?

Here in part is sort of an example via Ruth Malone:

“The controversy over e-cigarettes, for example, has created multiple lines of division among public health proponents. This disunity does not serve well the advancement of new policy measures to end the epidemic. Yet, e-cigarettes and the burgeoning list of other non-combustible tobacco and nicotine products could represent potential leverage for accomplishing what once seemed unthinkable: phasing out combustible cigarettes, the single most deadly consumer product ever marketed.”

What I have learned

Smokers. I didn’t realize the rights I didn’t have. I didn’t realize where the evil and condescending tone I put up with for years had come from. You have the right to choose. I was a die-hard “professional” smoker who never intended to quit, and do not subscribe to “recruiting” anyone to switch, just to properly inform if desired.

You have choices to continue smoking. You have the option to switch to other alternatives. I was a smoker for 30+ years, and while I now know quite a bit about lies on vaping products, I only know the tip of the lies being told about smoking. I also, for lack of expressing myself as eloquently as Paul, consider myself for most of my life not knowing better, now I am one of us.

I’m always learning and shocked to see extensive data on what smokers AND the public have (tobacco related deaths) been told to believe. I was convinced smoking causes lung cancer, for example. I was also coerced into believing nicotine was addictive.

Now, in my “travels” across the internet, I’m much more inclined to believe less quickly and “listen”. As an example, these tweets are from someone I follow (and admire) on twitter who keeps ME informed.

Nicotine – The Zombie Antidote

Saw this in a Facebook group I belong to  – from 2012.

An excellent perspective from Gabriela Segura, M.D:

“My aim here is to defend the rights of people who choose to smoke. It may surprise you to know that, while the percentage of the population that smokes has declined in recent years (due to government propaganda), the incidence of heart disease has not declined. The reason, shock! horror! is that smoking is not the real problem to begin with!”
