Doctors tell smokers: Switch to e-cigs

doctors2

With more than 560 physicians surveyed, over 70% “indicated that e-cigs can help patients reduce or eliminate smoking” and “almost half believe they can reduce risk” according to a new survey by Andrew Nickels, M.D. called “Majority of US doctors discussing electronic cigarettes with their patients”.

Patients in the United States have been inundated with bias information and opinions by health officials with false or manipulated data. Physicians MUST take an active role to understand the difference between combustible tobacco and e-cigs to advise their patients correctly.

This is not the first survey to ask professionals what they thought about vaping products. Participation was significantly lower in a survey I conducted with 84 professionals – but the consensus was very similar.

  • 85% said they are safer than combustible cigarettes.
  • 77% will tell patients an e-cigarette is an option.
  • 63% would definitely recommend e-cigarettes
  • 17% are cautious
  • 6% would never recommend e-cigarettes.

If you’re interested, that survey is here

Fail, Fail Again: The stop smoking motto:

bible

Organizations that are representing themselves as “stop smoking” services all say the same thing. “Keep trying“.

Physicians are well aware of failure rates as high as 93% with nicotine patch and gums, and multiple risks are involved for patients with prescriptions like the once “black-boxed” (now irresponsibly removed) Chantix and other medications.

Now it seems they are listening to successes of some patients and passing on the knowledge they gain, “anecdotal” or not, to others.

Success isn’t hard to find

success

Success is glaringly obvious in surveys of vapers where “79% had completely quit smoking cigarettes” (here)  and 42% stopped in one day – 75% stopped within a month  here.

What about addiction to nicotine?

nicotine

All health organizations falsely portray “nicotine” as “addictive”, a worn out and common “misdiagnosis” from folks who should know better, and is rarely questioned.

Pharmaceutical companies certainly are an ambitious lot – they created the “nicotine is addictive” myth out of thin air along with anti-smoking zealots to sell products. Stanton Glantz supports the pharmaceutical companies and makes things up as he goes along, and gets paid to do so.

Without tobacco and the accompanying MAOI’s and ingredients added to cigarettes, nicotine itself is not addictive, in humans, without it.

If the data contradict the theory, throw out the data

Public health organizations and government sing the same song:

The global public health establishment now dances to the tunes the pharmaceuticals play:
  1. Increase tobacco taxes to make the price of the pharmaceutical products more competitive with tobacco products.
  2. Demonize the tobacco industry and prohibit the advertising of their products.
  3. Enact smoking bans to force smokers either to attempt to give up smoking using the pharmaceuticals’ products or to use “nicotine replacement” products as substitutes for when they cannot smoke.
  4. Promote smoking cessation and “treatment” for nicotine addiction.
  5. Promote full coverage for treatment of nicotine addiction by public and private health insurers.
All these strategies are guaranteed to increase the pharmaceuticals’ profits.

That and much more can be found in “Big Drug’s Nicotine War” By Wanda Hamilton

I haven’t been shut up yet. I am looking forward to it.

What is long term?

At this point, professionals in the U.S. who claim they “do not know enough” or don’t know the “long term effects” are unacceptable and unprofessional.

What is your definition of a long-term study?

We know long term

research2

Dr. Cranfield explains the health effects of users over three years.

Users showed a 96% reduction in adverse health problems by users of three or more years. Conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure and asthma improved by 61.8%.

Let me repeat that:

Conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure and asthma improved by 61.8% of those diagnosed with those health issues while they smoked.

His study is here:

Health Effects and Demographics of Electronic E-cigarette Users. A Comparison Health Events in Previous Smokers with Three or More Years of Electronic E-cigarette Experience

Are there risks involved?

doctors4

Yes. Of course there are. Nothing is risk-free. In comparison to combustible tobacco, e-cigarettes are about MUCH less risk. MUCH less harm.

Leading the world to less harm in the case of e-cigarettes, less risk, is Cardiologist Konstantinos E Farsalinos

He has plenty of studies here.

He talks about them on his blog here:

Ecigarette-Research.Org

Implications of manipulation

manipulation.jpg

What are implications to withholding information from those who need it?

There’s no reason to ignore e-cigarettes, or less harm, to patients (or the public). When science and facts are ignored, people will still take advice to use the patch, gum and other “traditional” methods. When those methods fail, they will still use combustible tobacco. They will continue to smoke – because facts about e-cigarettes were ignored.

THIS

is what is on a street from the Leicester Stop Smoking Service in Leicester, England.

sign

Leicester Stop Smoking Service:

• Ecigs don’t contain the tar and carbon monoxide that lit cigarettes do, and are therefore much safer than smoking

• There is no evidence that ecigs are encouraging people to go back to smoking, in fact the opposite is true; seeing people use ecigs seems to encourage others to consider switching to a safer alternative

That is here.

They are STILL ignoring e-cigarettes in the United States here:

Professionals DO exist

doctors

M.O.V.E. is “Medical Organizations supporting Vaping and Electronic cigarettes”.

Medical Professionals Support Vaping And Electronic Cigarettes:

Denial of scientific evidence is unethical, wrong for public health.

The organization states:

“the use of electronic cigarettes clearly has huge potential to help many smokers turn their backs on tobacco.”

Focusing their attention squarely on e-cigarettes, they have a simple position on other cessation methods, stating “Unfortunately, currently available smoking cessation medications have limited efficacy and acceptability for the majority of smokers”.

(That article is here)

According to the M.O.V.E. Website:

  • It is the combustion of tobacco and the 4000 chemical substances that are produced when smoking cigarettes that are harmful to health of smokers, not the nicotine.

  • The dangers of electronic cigarettes are considerably lower than those of tobacco. From analysis of the constituents of e-cigarette vapour, e-cigarettes can be expected to be at least 95 to 99% safer than smoking tobacco cigarettes in terms of long-term health risks.

If you are in the medical, research or scientific fields…Doctors, Nurses, E.M.T.’s Physicians Assistants, Researchers, Dentists, Psychologists and more are members.

If you are a professional and have questions, message me here. I can get you in touch with these professionals online. I’ll get you where you need to go.

Final thoughts

The potential to reduce combustible tobacco with the use of e-cigs is being fought for, and against, and is here to stay.

The public must have the opportunity to choose a less harmful product with much lower risk and obvious benefit and hear professional views derived from research and science. They are confronting their doctors. They are trying to gain insight from who they trust.

While attitudes abroad look at research and less risk, health “organizations” in the U.S.A. are still insisting they don’t know enough. This has to stop.

I have tweeted this to some of the biggest names in “Tobacco Control”, including the Centers for Disease Controls top Doctor, Dr. Frieden. Stanton Glantz. Simon Chapman. Many others. They all still have a chance to speak their mind.

Evidently, it’s not that important for them to do so.

Any Medical Professional worldwide is encouraged to take this survey about E-cigarettes. I want the truth from you.

You PROUDLY tell your Doctor, Medical – Health Professional:

“I quit smoking” with e-cigs”!

The success in not smoking is profound in a smoker turned non-smoker’s mind.

It is a personal VICTORY.

It is one accomplishment some thought and were convinced

they never would attain.

I “met” Ray online at the end of last year. He is a self-admitted “old crank”. I love old cranks.

Please see Ray’s story here.

Some in this survey are 40 – 50 year smokers.

The pride in telling your health professional the many things is a great feeling.

Some would like to continue the misleading statements & rhetoric of the old school stupidity.

Many motives for doing so.

Some in the public health arena would like to consider e-cigarettes the same as smoking. They would rather you still feel defeated –

NOW condemning you for doing what they’ve told you to DO all along.

Some are simply irresponsible. Dr. Gounder claims she is:

on her Twitter Profile.

I say she’s other things. One of those start with Lazy.

I presume she just can’t find research on the internet. Huh.

I must have the credentials by now!

Make a NOTE to yourself as you see the graphic below –  these are statements unfounded, and just believed or contrived by ANOTHER person.

Question 28: Has your Doctor/Health Care provider noticed and/or noted these changes in your medical records since using an e-cigarette

My doctor is very positive to gaping even though she has never smoked or tried it herself. Today, 5:47AM
Doctor commented that it had been a long time since she’d seen me. I told her I felt a LOT better all of the time since I’d switched to an e-cigarette. She congratulated me and encouraged me to stay smoke-free.
My dentist said ” wow you quite smoking” before I had a chance to explain how.
I’m a guy. I don’t go to doctors unless dying
My Doctor has encouraged me to stick to the e-cigarettes as an alternative to smoking.
Really see doctor so not aware but dentist and hygienist both very positively in favour of ecigs
Have actually helped educate my doctor on ecigarettes and vaping.
My lung capacity has increased
my dr did not encourage it but does now
Im from canada. It does work that way here.
After a year and a half observing the changes in me, my doctor has opened up and truly listened to what I could tell him about the benefits of vaping to quit smoking.
My family doctor said it was a great way to get away from smoking
recently had surgery due to a fracture – not all Canadians can walk on water (ice). The surgeon viewed it as quitting smoking. I recently found a new family doctor who has her doubts.
My Doctor / Health Care provider encouraged it. & I am listed as a non-smoker on my health insurance as well.
I have not had a reason to see a Dr since switching to ecigs.I haven’t even had so much as a chest cold in over 2yrs since switchinng to ecigs.
My A1C went down, my blood pressure went down, I feel 100% better in just seven months.
At my last visit I was one year smoke free, doctor congratulated me. When I told him the only way I could finally quit was using vapor products, he stated I should consider quitting them as well. I am looking for a new doctor now!
Lungs cleared
All the reasons my doctor gave me to quit smoking are fixed, but he still suggests my vape will cause worse damage.
The cardiovascular specialist was the one that encouraged it – he was absolutely delighted the last time I saw him and told him I was switching. For him, it was the carbon monoxide from smoking that was the primary culprit and risk factor in my PVD. The internist not so much, but the dramatic change in my health since 2008 and my total lack of need for acute visits since then speak for themselves.
Insurance counts me a a tobacco user to get a surcharge added.
I don’t go to the doctor often.
I told my doctor but I do not know if I am listed as a non-smoker.
I am no longer a “smoker”!!

Doctor considers me a former smoker, just as she would if I were using nicotine gum or patches.

My long time doctor has noticed switching in blood tests. She says she cannot advocate the use of e-cigs but also says I should not go back to smoking what I smoked before. She works for a private health company tho and she has to follow company policy – she has implied to me in many ways that the absence of pack-a-day smoking is doing wonders, regardless of the substitute.
Seldom see doctor, get impression he/she wouldn’t be interested. Asthma nurse very impressed said “Whatever you’re doing keep on doing it” Listed me as ex-smoker.

I told my doctor that I vape and he said “but you’re not smoking, right” I said “no” and he said “that’s good”

Only been vaping exclusively 5 months and no scheduled appt’s yet
My Doctor considers me a non smoker and has changed his attitude toward ecigarettes since he has seen the physical proof. I have been using a cpap machine for over 3 years; my sleep therapy consultant has recorded a reduction in my dependence on my machine.
my dentist noticed a difference
My life assurance company class me as a non smoker now
My health teast were better. Alot better
Dr asked when I gave up, (at the time I last saw him,) and I said 3 years ago, but that I still use ecigs. He put me down as a non-smoker. 🙂

I also have a friend that had a heart attack that was a heavy smoker! His doctor told him to quit tobacco that day and if he wanted nicotine then he needed to start vaping! Or quit all together! He vapes and his doctor says his heart is doing well!

My doctor is amazed that I was able to quit and to stay off of cigarettes, but still isn’t so sure that e-cigarettes are OK.

Astounding information.

ARE There Side Effects To ECIGS & VAPING? Plenty, According To Experts.

02

According to some experts who are in the medical, health and research field, they are in fact, all experts.

Warnings, knowledge, time involved to do research. Speaking with other experts. Checking data. Being sure of themselves before presenting their case to the public like any professional expert would. After all, their very reputation is on the line and a very big audience is waiting to be swayed.

They’re experts about talking about ecigs. They warn, advise, completely know what it is they’re speaking of with the confidence of knowing everything there is to know, on top of their expertise in their chosen field and now, on top of all they know? They are experts on vaping…

Plenty of experts. Some actually have earned their degrees. Titles, books, shows, appearances. Fancy smanchy…  nice ties & pretty dresses…

In the news, reporters are now experts. Doctors who are on T.V. and all over the news are telling of their expertise.

Take 2.3 minutes of their busy schedule to school you on “dangers”, “news at 11”, claim what studies they heard about, they presume the information is right, and then claim there really isn’t enough research…. they need long term studies…

In your workplace, your co-workers are experts. There are a pot-load ton of experts.

My cat, in fact, has decided to become an expert.

To my confusion, and conclusion… they have no proof. There’s talk of danger, there’s talk of needing more studies. There’s talk of more time.

The side effects from vaping? Everyone has become an expert.

Here below, unedited, are the true experts with their experiences from those people who VAPE said about their “side effects” from vaping from the survey:

• Cough is gone & I don’t stink like smoke

• White gunk on my tongue is gone!

• Coughing completely gone (didn’t suffer from COPD though … yet)

• Headache, sleeping disorders, stress are gone.

• Asthma gone!!

• sleeping better, daily cough is gone, have been more active and thus lost weight

• Sinusitis is gone!

• i had cough and heart pain sometimes since i vape its gone.

• In 6 months I will be having more tests done and we shall see if there is improvement. These tests will be done as I will
not be back to work until health issues are dealt with.If my tests come back and things are better I will be demading my
Dr release all information along with all tests that I have gone through over the last 2 years

• Morning cough gone

• smokers cough is gone. Endurance is up.

• Persistant cough is gone.

• I had a persistent cough that has gone away, I can run 2 miles without stopping again, I can taste things!

• Arm pain is gone. Loss of feeling in arms is gone.

• My sense of smell is better. People no longer complain about me smelling like smoke. My smoker’s cough is gone.

• I was diagnosed with asthma after smoking for 30 years. I attempted yet again to stop smoking using all of the approved
NRT methods and again failed miserably. 6 months after my last cigarette, my doctor confirmed that my asthma is gone.
No more inhalers, and I can climb mountains again.

• Since I started vaping my periodontal disease symptoms (sore, bleeding, infected gums) are ALL gone! I know this
disease cannot be cured but now it is controlled.

• That annoying “smoker’s cough” is gone. I am no longer purging excess phlegm throughout the day.

• My bad smokers cough has all but gone, and I don’t get out of breath as quickly whe I’m much more active. My dentist says my teeth are cleaner. My doctors says my lungs are clearing up. My sense of smell and taste are off the charts. I no longer have burnt holes in my clothes, car, or bed.n exercising

• Not one bronchitis infection or bronchial asthma attack since vaping. My asthma is more under control. My cholesterol has dropped to a level my doctor is very pleased with.

• My allergies improved, the slight smoker’s cough I had is gone, and my overall health has improved noticeably. I simple
feel better.

• I breath better and the morning coughing jags are gone.

• My doctor has written in my papers ” non smoker ” . But notice : In some countries ( for example in germany ), health insurance and insurance companies listing vapers as “smokers” with all its attendant disadvantages 🙁

• I’m now listed as a nonsmoker on my medical chart and my doctor has noticed that my blood sugars (diabetic) are more even and controllable, my blood pressure is well within the normal range, and I’ve lost 15 stubborn pounds

• Doctor says my lungs are night and day cleaner than they were back in 2010. (Before I started vaping.)

• When I smoked I had heavy smokers cough, sometimes so strong that I could hardly breathe. The smoker’s cough is completely gone. Since I vapors can I smell better. A week after I smelled immediately if a smoker was near the bus, or passing me left. I started on 27 March with 11mg nicotine, now I have reduced to 3 mg nicotine.

• my doctors did asthma tests with me, my lungs increased in capacity by 30% in 11 months, my lung xrays show no signs of smoking, and my blood saturation with oxygen is 98. best i ever had.

• I don’t get bronchitis twice a year any more.

• don’t cough anymore

• My sense of taste is better and I don’t hack up brown stuff anymore. Plus the fact my clothes and car don’t stink!
• My cough disappeared, my heart no longer pounds when I excersize, I can smell and taste so much better, and I don’t
stink!

• I was hospitalized for double pneumonia and doctor said he saw no detrimental effect to vaping and that perhaps the moisture would in fact be good for breaking up my lungs. And some insurance companies are now considering vaping to not he considered as a smoker which lowers insurance premiums

• Cardiac and family doctors both say I’m better.

• Both medical doctor & DDS are thrilled I’m vaping.

• doctor just said : “Good !” with a big smile.

• 3 doctors are thrilled and have me down as a former smoker.

• After 27 years as a smoker you notice things like easier breathing it’s a marked difference. I also suffer with Crohns disease and have noticed a marked improvement with that too which my doctor tells me is linked to my stopping smoking.

• Also: My teethridge is much better and problems with sweaty feet are gone.

• So far so good and my doctor agrees.

• – smoker’s cough stopped after two weeks of vaping
skin looks healthier
stamina is way up without more exercise
had difficulty walking long distances, they are gone
COPD has vanished from the list of chronic diseases my doctor is treating me for
taste is back
sense of smell is back
can lie down without my nose clogging up instantly

Are these claims to be dismissed as anecdotal?  Those people above and their experiences don’t COUNT? Doesn’t what they SAY make a difference?

Is there a bet on who can be the best at misinformation between public health, the medical field, journalists, tobacco control (of ALL people) and others jumping on the bandwagon?

The claims above are JUST as admissible as evidence. No one in their reports show this, and turn their backs on it. “Need more time” and “not enough studies to confirm” at the end of their reports….is becoming unacceptable.

In order to do research, shouldn’t you do the questioning of those with the actual experience in real numbers?

Here’s some fun for you… some of what lengths IDIOTIC “professionals” will go to:

Some are Doctors, Nutritionists, Dentists, even here, specifically, Roger Bezanis with NO title or Dr. after his name –  no formal education to my knowledge, now claims to be an expert and has joined in on how much he knows about ecigs:

bezanis

Seems silly, doesn’t it? Roger, you’re making a fool of yourself.

You showed much worse, including the misleading photos on your twitter feed.

You can see his feed yourself: (Rogers Twitter Feed) and like above, made irresponsible claims you know nothing about.

(He blocks you like ALL those who don’t want to see truth or valid studies.)

You didn’t even show any research, you just started spouting off like a madman…  and there’s something wrong with you.

You’ve hit yourself in the head with too many frying pans.

Like others, you cannot speak responsibly, so please find a medication that works for you.

If you’d like to discuss any questions with him or his findings, he’s on twitter: @RogerBezanis

The two things I say are this.

First, ecigs need more studies and they’re coming. We need studies that are truthful, and not misconstrued by idiots or professionals wanting their 3.4 minutes on national TV. You’re potentially costing lives with your slick knowledge of nothing.

Second. More time. ABSOLUTELY. Time to know possible long term effects.Tick. Tock.

Every day goes by, no ill effects. I am not afraid.

Don’t you think people who vape WANT any truthful bad info? You’re damn right we do! Until then, we’re vaping. It is safe.

Would you rather have us smoke? If you would, PLEASE tell me I may as well smoke… I always look forward to that.

Here’s the thing, if they’ve been around over 10 years, wouldn’t you think by now we’d all be growing mold or a 2nd nose out of our ears if they were detrimental?

Ecigs and vaping is not smoking and is CONSIDERABLY LESS harmful than smoking cigarettes.

Act like professionals. Focus on that. Be responsible with your titles. Stop being afraid of what your colleagues think.

Stand up and speak out.

Make a difference. You may just save someones life.

If you are a true professional, and want to help the world, please join this organization called M.O.V.E. if you already agree, or find out what those professionals have to say.

If you do that, and you don’t agree its SAFE in comparison to smoking, then denounce your membership, and continue on your crusade, but you need to have research in your hand that you can point to, proving the same or more danger exists because I’ll be watching for every report.

This has long been an age of open information. It seems plain old normal people with no degree can find truth quicker than people with earned degrees and status…the studies and lies come out, and SOMEONE will see the truth behind the lies it may tell…

You see, I’m just a guy who has a day job. No degree, no title… but vapers ARE Nurses, Scientists, Doctors, Dentists… health and former health professionals… and they know the benefits as compared to smoking… and they’re in groups, forums, twitter, facebook…..

Amazingly, if you’ve been under a rock, there is a ton of research:

Here’s another one to take very seriously once you learn who Mr. Bates is and his background:

from Clive Bates:
Briefing on the science and policy of e-cigarettes and vaping:

http://www.clivebates.com/documents/vapebriefing.pdf

If you smoke, smoke. I did forever and cannot judge.

If you do both, awesome. If you’ve found vaping is better?

Great.

If you’re undecided, PLEASE know there’s a choice, and they’re trying to take that away and already have in some parts of “civilized worlds”……
