Government, health organizations and special interest groups are counting on you to not pay attention. That’s the plan.
Don’t forget to set your clocks forward tomorrow. We get an hour less this week to fight the bastards.
Today the vapor industry joined together in support of Cole-Bishop.
- Tony Abboud, Executive Director, Vapor Technology Association
- Pamela Gorman, Executive Director, Smoke Free Alternatives Trade Association
- Alex Clark, Executive Director, Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association
- Gregory Conley, President, American Vaping Association

The Blog Fog Has Lifted
In what may be the longest “rapid response” ever, there are now responses:
All were insightful, this one caught my eye from Clive Bates.
TWO from Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos:
First:
Second:
Irresponsible marketing by parts of the e-cigarette industry requires immediate measures
Because Price-Reducing Strategies Are There:
I love the “conclusion”. They don’t like alternatives. They don’t like Snus. They don’t like e-cigarettes. They don’t like roll-your-own…..but they certainly like a “Federal Minimum Pack Price “idea”… we need a pay raise.
“Conclusion: A federal minimum price policy has the potential to greatly benefit tobacco control and public health by uniformly increasing the price of cigarettes and by eliminating many price-reducing strategies currently available to both sellers and consumers.”
Simple Simon
I absolutely love Dick Puddlecoat. You should as well. Simon, not so much. If he’d only use the mass between his ears…
2nd hand
Because who doesn’t like the idea of anything second-hand?
“EC use releases negligible levels of nicotine into ambient air with no identified health risks to bystanders”
What does e-cigarette vapor contain? Is it harmless to bystanders?
A Survey (on Twitter) for my friends in Australia:
Cole-Bishop: #HR1136
Cole-Bishop, one of the more important things in the industry.
“The e-cigarette industry is on the edge of a cliff, with Food and Drug Administration rules threatening to wipe out 10,000 small businesses and remove 99 percent of vapor products from the market in just 18 months’ time.”
A modest reform could mean life or death for the vaping industry
Robert Innes.
I adore Mr. Innes:
A very high percentage of the population kept on smoking which concerned the ones who wanted them to stop, so the ones who wanted smokers to stop invented Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) which gave the smokers nicotine which was not addictive, and did not provide any fun – that was good.
I almost couldn’t believe my eyes…
Not often do I do a double-take, but this one was refreshing to see.
“we believe that patients have the right to practical, empirical, and accessible information and facts. We are hoping that e-cigarettes will be treated by the New York DOH with the same amount of empirical scrutiny and moral impartiality as these other means of harm reduction.”
Tobacco Associates hold 70th annual meeting in Wilson
Here’s an interesting insight to the tobacco market and its own view on the upcoming years, and they don’t seem too concerned.
“Brown said the jury is still out on the e-cigarette industry’s impact on the U.S. combustibles market”
Strong profits predicted for tobacco growers
Youth:
I’ve often thought we should just ban children. Ankle-biting rugrats seem to have made some sense in this!
Avoiding or reducing the harm of tobacco cigarettes is the top reason youth vape, according to data from a survey by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and analyzed by PinneyAssociates.

Tweet Of The Week (TOTW)
(Not me, Eciggity!)
Suicide or Vaping? – You Decide
Now I know drug companies have to list ‘possible’ side effects, however, when you see just what these so called ‘safe’ stop smoking drugs are capable of doing to the user – you’ll ask yourself just why they’re ‘approved’ and vaping is not.

Gary Wood:
The Tobacco Control Prayer
Big Vaping headquarters just unearthed the Tobacco Control Prayer!
In Other News
You can imagine my surprise when CDCTobaccoFree “liked” one of my tweets in response to using my survey to SmokeFreeUS@NCI…
This one’s going on my “I love me” wall!
Stranger things have happened:
Vapers Tongue
Ideas and inspiration comes in many forms for me many times from you.
There still, to my knowledge, is no “right” way to “fight” or advocate. If you’re worn down, read This, via Chris Price:
The Vaping Advocate’s Rules For Campaigning
or this, via Clive Bates:
Memo to public health grandees: vaping, vapers and you
I know two things. I will not stop. I will not give up.
We, and millions like us who don’t know better, are too important.
